The Wind Down

I am absolutely hopeless at relaxing, so controversial to some, I often exercise. I have a Peloton bike at home which I absolutely love so I will usually try to fit this in. As I am now freelance, I often work Sundays too, but my husband Theo does his best to make me take some time out. I have always enjoyed having a bath but since we redecorated our bathroom last year, I love it even more. I am completely obsessed with Aromatherapy Associates’ Deep Relax Bath and Shower Oil and put a few drops in to the bath and rub a little on to my chest. The smell is incredible, and it does exactly what it says. My other weakness is Laura Mercier’s Honey Bath. I always light a candle too – usually Byredo. Diptyque’s St Germain is another favourite.

The Routine

Before I get in the bath, I always double cleanse with Eve Lom’s Cleanser. I also use the Foreo Facial Cleansing Brush at least twice a week as it’s great for giving my skin a really deep cleanse. The compact size also makes it handy for when I am travelling. Whilst I’m in the bath, I will always do a face mask – usually Sarah Chapman’s 3D Moisture Mask. Post-bath, I use the Sarah Chapman Face Lift Tool or a jade roller to push the excess product from the mask in to my skin. This is one of my top tips for making the most of expensive product and the tool is also great for lymphatic drainage. After this, I rinse my face with cold water and apply Dr Dennis Gross’ Ferulic + Retinol Wrinkle Recovery Overnight Serum. My go-to moisturiser is Kate Somerville’s Goat Milk Moisturizing Cream which I also use with the Goat Milk De-Puffing Eye Balm. My lip balm of choice is Ultrasun’s Lip Protection as it’s so hydrating and lasts throughout the night.

For my body, I always use Sol De Janeiro’s Brazilian Bum Bum Cream. I have been buying it for years when travelling abroad so was so excited when it finally launched in the UK. I am utterly obsessed with it. It makes my skin feel so soft and the smell is just divine. I am fairly low maintenance when it comes to my bodycare, but I do use a body brush every morning and night after I read that Elle Macpherson raved about it several years ago.

My haircare is fairly low maintenance too as I am blessed with thick hair which doesn’t require much attention. I only wash my hair once a week and always reach for Living Proof’s Restore range. I will then use Christophe Robin’s Regenerating Mask to give it a deep condition. I leave this on whilst I am in the bath for around 20 minutes and find the hot steam really boosts the efficacy of the mask. After this I spritz Ouai’s Rose Hair Oil on the ends (it’s great for extra conditioning) and let it air dry. I try not to use much heat on my hair at all and in between washes I use Living Proof’s Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo. It’s by far the best I’ve used.

Bedtime

I try to get to bed by 11pm. Theo and I love to watch anything crime related but we usually switch to something fun like Family Guy before sleeping or else I have nightmares! If it isn’t TV, we will listen to something. I love Matthew McConaughey’s Sleep Stories on the Calm app. Jason Stephenson’s Sleep Meditation is another we like. Theo is usually asleep after two minutes.

I am such a light sleeper after growing up with six younger siblings; I was always being woken up and wanting to check on them, so I am used to a lack of sleep. Since becoming freelance, my work life balance has improved so this has helped. Despite not being a very good sleeper at night, I am the queen of napping. Before I turn out the lights, I always take a multivitamin, pop on my Slip Eye Mask and spray the This Works Pillow Spray.

Monday Morning

Theo’s alarm goes off at 6:45am which wakes me. I tend to set my alarm for 8am and snooze in-between that. Mondays can often be my days off so I will usually make a coffee, feed my dogs and cat and then read or catch up on some TV.
