The How-To

Priming the skin to make it look fresh pre-makeup is essential. After your normal skincare regime, opt for a moisturiser that promotes radiance and has a pearlescent finish. The Glamglow Glowstarter Mega Illuminating Moisturiser comes in three shades to suit all skin tones and bridges the gap between skincare and makeup. Let this sink in, then follow with the NARS Radiance Primer for an extra hit of glow.

Next up, your base. The Laura Mercier Candleglow Soft Luminous Foundation offers medium coverage with a subtle hint of luminosity; mix this with a couple of drops of the Cover FX Drops in Sunlight to boost skin further. Finish with a hint of cream blush and fix your base with the De Mamiel Dewy Facial Mist.

Now onto your eyes; Kevyn Aucoin’s Exotique Diamond Eye Gloss in Cosmic gives the most amazing glossy finish for perfect party peepers. We love it worn alone, but for a little extra sparkle tap on some Chantecaille Mermaid Eye Colour in either Copper (a coppery gold) or Hematite (a gunmetal silver) before your eye gloss. Finish with lashings of mascara and a subtle yet gorgeous nude lip; we like the combination of Lipstick Queen Lip Liner in Bare Nude and NARS Lipstick in Cruising.

The Look: Down To Earth

An innovative new take on a classic smoky eye, this look suits everyone and will set you apart from other party-goers. Bronzey-green shades line the eyes, while the complexion and lips are low-key yet glossy. For extra definition look to line the waterline with a deep cocoa liner.

The How-To

Work foundation into the areas you need it then dust a little bronzer all over your face, before taking some product on a smaller brush and applying to the cheekbones to define your face shape. The NARS Bronzing Powder is perfect for both jobs as it’s matte; we like iconic shade Laguna. Fill in any gaps in your brows with the Hourglass Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil before setting the shape with Laura Mercier’s Brow Dimension Fiber Infused Colour gel, which is tinted and adds a little more definition and hold.

For the perfect khaki eye, begin by smudging the By Terry Stylo Blackstar creamy eyeshadow stick in Bronze Green across the eyelids. After this initial wash of colour, focus on the outer corners and crease by buffing in the darker green and gold shades from the By Terry Eye Designer Palette. Use a fluffy blending brush to ensure the finished look is neat but not too ‘done’ – watch the video above to discover the best technique. Now use the same By Terry stick underneath your eyes, defining the lash line and taking the product all the way into the inner corners for extra drama. Apply lashings of the bestselling Chantecaille Faux Cils Mascara Longest Lash onto the top and bottom lashes, and finish off your look with a natural, glossy lip shade such as Laura Mercier’s Lip Glacé in Bare Blush.

The Look: Rouge Kiss

A bold lip is a classic option when it comes to festive gatherings – and red is unbeatable. The key when wearing a bright shade of lipstick is to pare down the rest of the face, keeping things clean, fresh and flawless.

The How-To

Skin should look radiant yet understated, so after applying your base, dust some of the Kevyn Aucoin Celestial Powder in Starlight all over the face using a large brush. Give cheeks a pop of colour with a pretty cream shade (we like Laura Mercier Crème Cheek Colour in Canyon) before moving onto the eyes. Avoid highly pigmented eyeshadows and instead opt for a neutral primer such as the Laura Mercier Eye Basics in Wheat. Next, curl lashes and apply a few layers of the Volume Mascara by Kevyn Aucoin.

There’s a red lipstick shade out there for everyone, it just depends on your skin tone and preference. By Terry’s Terrybly Velvet Rouge in Ingu Rouge is a universally flattering shade, while olive tones suit vibrant orangey reds; try Rodin’s Tough Tomato Luxury Lipstick. Dark skin tones look beautiful with vibrant, bright shades, but also suit dark reds like NARS’ Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Cruella. Our top tips for wearing red? Play around with different shades and undertones to find your favourite, and always invest in a lip liner as close to the shade you’re wearing as possible to ensure longevity and prevent feathering. If you feel like giving your look a beautifully iridescent, festive feel try applying a little of the Kevyn Aucoin The Molten Lip Colour Top Coat in Cyber Opal on top, to the centre of the lips.
