Feet looking a little neglected? Missing your usual pedi appointment? You’re not the only one! Thankfully with the right tools and products you can give yourself a pro-like treatment from the comfort of your own home. Here, podiatrist and brand founder Margaret Dabbs shares her top tips and tricks for totally transforming your feet…

Start With Dry Skin – No Soaking!

“All of our clinic pedicures and medical pedicures are always undertaken on dry skin,” says Margaret. “Wet skin masks the areas that need treating, weakens the tissues and makes the skin more prone to infection. The file also won’t remove the skin as effectively and the results aren’t as long lasting.” So forget the long soak and go straight in with dry feet.

Tend To Your Nails

If your nails are long, trim them with nail scissors before attempting to file. If you’re looking to give yourself salon-groomed nails, invest in a Crystal Nail File. “Once you’ve used a crystal nail file, you will never look back,” says Margaret. “They can be used in each direction, they seal the nail and also prevent tears.”

File your nails to the shape you like, being careful not to go too short. Next use a block buffer across the nails to remove any discolouration and give a smooth, shiny finish.

Remove Dry And Hard Skin With A File

The best tool for this job is without a doubt Margaret Dabbs’ Professional Foot File… it really is the Rolls Royce of foot files and will last a lifetime. If yours is getting worn down, you can buy replacement pads.

As it was initially designed for podiatrists, you can guarantee pro-like results with this file. “Be sure not to skip this step as even the best foot cream in the world won’t work if you leave patches of dry skin,” Margaret says.

Use A Foot Scrub

“Don’t underestimate the benefit of using a foot scrub to bring dull, dry skin back to life,” says Margaret. Try using a small amount of the Exfoliating Foot Mousse to gently buff away any remaining layers of dead, dry and broken skin. Margaret advises rubbing it all over the foot, concentrating on the heels and ball of the foot, as well as taking it in-between your toes. Your feet will look better and feel softer in minutes.

Finish With A Foot Lotion

To lock in moisture and really make your feet feel their best, finish with a foot lotion or cream. Try the Intensive Hydrating Foot Lotion which is formulated with antibacterial properties to keep skin soft and reduce hard skin build up. “Apply all over the under foot and very slowly massage it all over increasing the speed of the movement to include the top of the foot and ankle,” Margaret advises. For daily use – especially as we approach sandal weather, we also love Sol De Janeiro Samba Foot Fetish Care, which helps to keep dryness at bay.
