How To Get Digital Date Night Ready Makeup

Whether you’re celebrating a loved one’s birthday on FaceTime, having a weekend wine date with friends on House Party or perhaps venturing in to the new world of digital dating… there’s still plenty of excuses to open up your makeup bag and have some fun.  Here’s four easy-to-create make up looks from makeup artist Zoë Taylor and some handy tips from Space NK’s pro team…

How To Achieve Digital Bronzer

Whilst our summer holidays may have been postponed, we can still create a healthy-looking glow in just seconds.

  1. The first step for this is all about good skin prep. “When going for a bronzed look, we want to make sure our skin is hydrated, smooth and glowing,” says Space NK’s pro artist, Renee Efthymiou. “Start with an exfoliating toner to remove dead skin and follow with a serum and moisturiser.
  2. Next try a liquid bronzer – we love NAR’s Laguna Liquid Bronzer as it gives a really flattering effect on camera. Apply it along your cheekbones, hair line and jawline and buff into your skin with a brush or Beauty Blender to achieve a seamless, natural-looking finish.
  3. Touch up any areas that need coverage with your foundation or concealer.
  4. Follow with a powdered bronzer to intensify the warmth.

Insider trick: When it comes to finding the right shade, Zoe suggests colours with slight undertones of copper as they help to brighten eyes and make them even more luminous. Both NARS’ Original Bronzing Powder in Laguna and Hourglass’ Ambient Lighting Bronzer have perfect shades to try this out.

How To Get That Glass Skin Glow

Great for accentuating cheekbones when you’re on camera; a glossy, glassy glow has the added benefit of lending a plump, youthful finish to any complexion.

  1. “This look also requires a smooth base to be sure to exfoliate first. This will help to instantly reveal a brighter complexion and start off the journey to a glass-like complexion,” says Renee.
  2. “Mix a little highlighter into your base and then apply it to the areas you want to show off ,” says Zoe. We love Kevyn Aucoin’s Glass Glow Liquid Illuminator for a glow like no other. Apply along your cheekbones, towards the temples and up under the brow.

Insider trick: Avoid your T-zone as you run the risk of looking shiny rather than glossy.

How To Apply Quick Dark Lips

Pull your look together fast with a chic, dark lip – perfect for those last-minute camera calls. It’s ideal for making it look as though you’ve made an effort and will distract away from the fact you may not have washed your hair in days. Talking of which – everyone should have this dry shampoo in their bathroom cabinet.

  1. Zoe’s top tip for creating this look is to always line lips with a slightly lighter shade first. Trace out your outline, taking care around your Cupid’s bow. For natural-looking fuller finish, use a touch of gloss in the middle of your lips as a finishing touch, rather than accentuating your lip line at this stage.
  2. Then, go ahead and colour in the body of your lips with your chosen lipstick.

Insider trick: Unsure of which shade to go for? The one’s used here are  Charlotte Tilbury’s Lip Cheat Lip Liner in Bad Romance and Laura Mercier’s Rouge Essential Silky Creme Lipstick in Rose Rouge

How To Wear All Over Blush

Not usually a lover of pink makeup? Now’s the ideal time to try out some new colours and you may be surprised by how flattering pinky hues can be – particularly on camera as they add a healthy flush and pop of colour. Plus, you’ll also notice just how versatile some of your makeup must-haves really are.

  1. “First up, blend blusher into the apples of your cheeks and blend up and out towards the hairline,” says Renee.
  2. Next, take the same colour and apply a generous wash of colour over the eyelids and slightly higher. You can also add a little under the lower lash line to really frame the eyes.

Insider trick: Try multi-tonal blushers to really brighten and add depth to the complexion like Charlotte Tilbury’s Cheek To Chic Blush.
