About Philip Kingsley
Philip Kingsley’s 65-year career started at the age of 16, when assisting at his uncle’s hairdresser salon in east London. Unable to afford a degree in medicine, he started saving money to attend the Institute of Trichologists. He got his qualification in scalp dermatology and hair cycles in 1953 and opened a hair clinic soon after, specialising in tackling thin, limp and damaged hair in both men and women.
Kingsley’s talent and passion for hair health led him to be known as ‘The Hair Doctor’ and become a favourite amongst celebrities. He formulated his first ever product for actress Audrey Hepburn, the highly rated Elasticizer Deep-Conditioning Treatment – the product range would eventually be formalised in 1983. To this day, Philip Kingsley Elasticizer is the brand’s most famous product.
