Your Questions, Answered

To apply your lipstick like a pro, make sure your lips are pillowy-soft by exfoliating them regularly. Then, use a lip liner – this not only helps to create definition, give a fuller appearance and make your lip colour last longer; it can also stop lipstick from bleeding. When applying either your bullet or liquid lipstick, start from the centre to have more control. Remove any excess product with a cotton bud.

To discover the best lipstick for your skin tone, simply bear your skin’s overall tone (fair, light, medium, olive, deep…) and undertone (cool, warm, neutral…), and ‘match’ it with a lipstick’s undertone. Generally, cool undertones will suit lipsticks with pink, purple and blue bases; warm tones will suit lipsticks with orange and yellow bases; and neutral undertones can likely pull off many shades with various undertones. However, don’t take it as an exact science – if you find a lipstick you love the look of, it’s worth trying it in-store!

Wondering which lipsticks you can keep in your hand luggage when boarding a flight? Fear not if you love a bullet lipstick – you can pack as many as you wish in your cabin bag. Liquid and cream lipsticks on the other hand will have to follow the 100ml rule and be kept in clear resealable plastic bags when you’re passing through security. It is worth checking directly with the airport you’re flying from however, as some airports have relaxed their rules.
