Lovely scent that lasts
I am a fan of Byredo perfumes and was very excited when I saw the Mojave ghost on the 12 days of fragrance advent calendar. It's a lovely scent, not very strong but it lasts a long time, I can still smell it on my skin a few hours after applying it. I own a 8ml bottle so cannot comment on bigger bottles but don't like the fact it's not a spray, which makes it more difficult to apply. I took off one start because of the price, as lovely as it is, it's too expensive!

Another Byredo staple
I used the travel size of this perfume. I’m genuinely surprised with the scent - from description I expected it to be strong/heady flower scent. But, it is a clean floral scent with a hint of musk. To me it feels like a skin scent after an hour or so. I can still smell it on my clothes and skin but only when I sniff my shirt/wrist. Overall I’m pleased with the scent and it is perfect for office wear - mucky without overpowering the people close to your desk! I have used other Byredo fragrances which are always ‘loud’ and people can smell you from a distance away so this was a genuine surprise - definitely recommend trying the travel size first.

and that is generous
A great name and I love the backstory, but sadly both proved to be a lot more interesting and a lot more pleasant than the fragrance. It opened with a sweet warm fruity accord that I really liked, but sadly this did not last. Soon afterwards it developed some vague floral notes - the promised violet and magnolia were impossible to discern - and a disquieting acridity that I can only describe as a bit icky (perhaps this was the ambrette). It remained an icky vague floral blur after that with no noticeable development, and was quite tenacious unfortunately. I'd have given this only 1 star, but I previously bought the LE Ouai leave in conditioner fragranced with this, and enjoyed it enough to finish the bottle. I was glad to get an 8ml travel size of the EdP to go on to, but I think I will give it away instead. My partner was quite happy when I used the fragranced conditioner after every wash, but loathed the fragrance when he smelled it on me. Fragrances are usually reformulated slightly for different bases (alcohol, lotion, body wash etc), but not usually enough to make the difference between enjoyment and strong dislike. This one is a definite no from both of us.
The ghost of a scent
I received a generous sample in the fragrance set, which I used when I stayed overnight in a hotel which used the exact fragrance for its toiletries. I was head to toe in the scent and it was barely noticeable on me, apart from whiffs of it where I accidentally spilt most of sample bottle on my cuff. An imperceptible ghost of a scent, unless my cuff was near my nose, which was a Shane because it is lovely if you can smell it. I prefer the Bal D’Afrique, which is noticeable all day, but not overpowering in any way.
Effortless Elegance in a Bottle
If you’re after a fragrance that’s subtle yet unforgettable, Byredo’s Mojave Ghost might just be it. From the first spritz, it’s clear this isn’t your typical floral or woody scent—it’s a soft, almost creamy blend with a mysterious twist that feels both warm and fresh. The scent opens with light, airy notes of ambrette, then moves into a beautifully balanced heart of violet and sandalwood. There’s a slight sweetness to it, but nothing overpowering. It’s one of those fragrances that people notice without it ever feeling “loud,” like they just catch a whiff and have to ask what you’re wearing. What I love most is how versatile it is. It feels just as right for a workday as it does for a dinner out, and it has good staying power without needing a refresh. Yes, it’s a splurge, but it’s the kind of fragrance that feels unique and elevates any day.
