Kosas Lip And Cheek Stick Review Space NK
Skincare-meets-makeup brand Kosas has unveiled its luscious new Impressionist Lip + Cheek Multistick. Spanning seven flattering flesh toned shades, the stick melts seamlessly into your cheeks and lips, delivering natural, flushed-from-within vitality. To celebrate, Kosas has enlisted celebrity MUA, Ngozi Edeme, better known as Kosas has unveiled its luscious new Painted By Esther, whose viral blush technique has graced the faces of stars such as Cassie, Tyla and Naomi Campbell.

Ahead of her masterclass at our Duke of York store, Esther mused, “I’m wearing it right now in shade vibration, and it is genuinely a 10/10 product. It’s easy to use, it’s easy to carry, it’s easy to move, it dries matte. I tried and tested it in New York on tour, in the heat, and it lasted. It’s the perfect product."

On matching your lip and cheek colour, Esther clarified, “It gives your face a cohesiveness, it looks like you’ve done your makeup with purpose and intention.” The best part is it takes out the guess work, allowing you to solely enjoy the pleasure of application with a refined finish, guaranteed.

To put the new Impressionist Multi Stick to the test, we took Esther's technique back to HQ... Keep reading to see how we got on.

How To Create Painted By Esther's Melted Flush Look

Painted By Esther In Action Space NK

Step one: Tap your more neutral shade of Impressionist Lip + Cheek Multistick evenly across your cheeks.

Step two: Add a touch of Revealer Concealer to the areas where the blush should naturally diffuse on the inward portion of your face, towards your under-eye concealer and above your mouth.

Step three: Set the edges of your blush gently with a Cloud Set Brightening Baked Setting & Smoothing Powder. This works particularly well with the new shade ‘Candy’, which has a pink undertone, if you're going for a red or pink toned look.

Step four: Apply your brighter blush shade onto the highest points of your cheeks with a powder puff.

Step five: Warm up the product and tap into the lips for a cohesive, polished look.

Shade: Muse is a warm, neutral brown shade and looks like a healthy flush. It's not too pink and I think it bronzes nicely. To add dimension and a pop of colour, I went for Ripe. It’s a vibrant, juicy, rich berry tone that compliments my hair colour well.

Application: Following Painted By Esther’s tips, I applied Muse, then diffused it around my under eyes with some extra concealer. Setting carefully with powder also made me realise how much better your makeup looks when you apply precisely and intentionally. To finish off the look with an extra pop of colour, I dabbed Ripe on the tops of my cheekbones, diffusing out towards my hairline.

Formula: The stick is really creamy and easy to blend. On the lips, the brown shade, Muse, looked a little too intense at first but I diffused it by dabbing my fingers! I found it slightly drier than my normal lip products, but my skin is on the oily side so the matte formula was a massive help on my cheeks and made my skin look smooth.

Finished look: It was really fun to implement Painted By Esther’s techniques into my routine because I've never done my blush like this or cleaned up with concealer, not even for my brows! Setting my concealer and powder after applying blush actually looks way more airbrushed. I do really love the bright bold colours on the cheeks, and my base looks a lot more flawless than usual! Next time, I’d probably skip applying on the lips.

Shade: I was drawn to vital because I thought it would be a very chic, nude shade that would complement a bronzed tan. As the brand describes it, it has a slightly burnt orange undertone that gives that gorgeous terracotta blush look.

Application: I tested this blush as part of my everyday routine, so I used my classic technique. Thanks to the balmy formula, I found that my fingers worked better than a brush. I pressed it into my lips with my finger rather than swiped. It glides on really well, but you must warm up the product first, on the back of your hand.

Formula: It’s very pigmented with a decent colour pay off, especially as this is one of the more muted tones. Although it’s creamier once you’ve used it a couple of times, I found it a bit dry on the lips so you definitely need a mask underneath or a gloss on top. On the cheeks, the product lasts well and doesn’t transfer, but it can feel slightly dry towards the end of the day.

Finished look: In theory, it’s great to be able to throw the same colour onto your lips and cheeks, but I would only wear this on my lips alongside a lip liner and gloss, which solidifies it as more of a weekend, full glam, product. However, as a simple blush, I really like the intensity of the colour pay off and ease of a stick. Not having to build up with a brush is much appreciated in the morning and the shine-free finish is ideal for warmer days.

Recommend to a friend: Absolutely! I've been wearing this repeatedly on my cheeks.

Our verdict on Kosas’ Impressionist Lip + Cheek Stick

This blush earned a permanent spot in both of reviewer's makeup bags...

THE PROS: Each shade was vibrant, easy to blend, and resulted in a vibrant finish with a smooth, natural texture on the cheeks. Be sure to warm up the formula on the back of your hand, to make it easy to blend.

THE CONS: On the lips, both reviewers found it slightly drying, which can be the case with a lot of matte formulas. To get the matching look, be sure to prep your lips with a lip mask.
