Not for drier skin.
This is a weird one... As I tried to figure out what this really feels like I couldn’t at first, but then it dawned on me! The skin feels exactly like your hands do after putting on a liquid hand sanitizer. It has no alcohol in it but the moisturising agents in this with aloe, glycerin and some gum like ingredients, (in this case xantan and agave syrup) it gives that kind of dry I guess temporary smoothness that also can feel a bit firming, (in this case firming as in the way dry skin feels shrunken and tight). There is no drying alcohol in this though, important to say not to confuse things. But it does not smooth the skin either as in smoothing texture or pores and will in no way plump the skin if that’s what you are after. To me it did not work together with most of my foundations as my dry skin though amply moisturised before putting this on caused this to suck up all moisture and cause my foundations to pill. This pills fairly easily by it self too on dry skin, both on face and on hands (is you put it to the test). It simply does not work on dry skin as it will either pill or cause foundation or moisturiser to pill. But perhaps it can work for people with oilier skin types that perhaps can put this on bare face and then maybe benefit from the tightening feel this gummy, sticky almost liquid soap like concoction leaves on the skin? If you think though that a hand sanitizer without alcohol would be the perfect primer, then this may be your thing... People with drier or more mature skin however I humbly wish would pass on this...

Did nothing for my base.
This is one of those products that makes me scratch my head, because it literally does nothing. It looks like water, and it does the same thing as water. It didn't change my foundation or make it last longer. It didn't smooth out my pore, or soften my lines. It did nothing. If they had marketed this as skincare it would have been better for Ilia, because at least then you could use of the bottle and not have immediate primer expectations. The only good thing I can say is that it didn't aggravate my skin.

This is a great serum. Just like the other products that I have bought the True Skin Serum Foundation and concealer. This suits my skin perfectly. It covers my rosacea and makes my skin feel alive. Have had so many compliments that my skin looks much more healthy.

After reading about Ilia's philosphy behind their beauty products, I was excited to try this serum, which boasts a lot of healing oils and no nasties, and for a relatively cheap price (compared to my usual serums). However, if I hadn't have known that this was a 'natural' product, I would have thought it contained many of the ingredients that irritate my sensitive skin, such as any type of acid peel or Retinol. Immediately after applying, my skin did feel tighter but it stung quite a bit and became quite red and angry looking. After a week of continuing with it, I noticed that it was aggravating any dry patches I had and now I have some inflammation and peeling where I didn't before. As for priming the skin for make-up, as soon as I applied even a tinted moisturiser over the top, it stuck and clumped in places, so I had to abandon adding concealer or foundation. Sadly this did not deliver on its smoothing and calming promises at all. In future, I will stick with my far more expensive but effective serums I am used to.

Lovely natural primer with great ingredients. I don’t use a lot of makeup for everyday and this is great for making the skin look fresh and lightly dewy with a bit concealer on top. My clog prone sensitive skin reacted nicely on this primer, no irritation or breakouts.
