The highly stable retinol present in this formula works to reduce the appearance of fine lines, photo damage and general signs of skin ageing. It also encourages natural cell turnover, helping to promote softer and healthier-looking skin while working to minimise the appearance of blemishes and dark spots.
As retinol can cause irritation to the skin, newer technologies now exist to mimic the visible effects of retinol without causing as much discomfort for the skin. With this in mind, The Ordinary recommends beginning with lower concentrations in order to build up tolerance.

Apply a small amount to face in the PM as part of your skincare regimen, after water-based serums but before heavier treatments.

Favourite retinol
Favourite retinol. Never had any redness with this despite struggling with intermittent rosacea. All retinols should be used at night, making sure you use a good spf during the day. Can increase fairly quickly. I find the squalane helps reduce any skin irritation, but really good consistent retinol which is effective, yet not too harsh on the skin. Thanks.

worth it for your skin!

Really nice add on to skin routine
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got this gifted to me by the ordinary to see how it went with my skin and my routine. The serum is pretty oily and takes a minute to seep in but overall i absolutely love it. I feel like my skin has gotten brighter and more even.

Nice Retinol
