The Wind Down

For me, Sunday is a family day. My husband and I have two sons and we all have season tickets for Chelsea, and so if there’s a match on we’ll all go to the game. I didn’t think football would be something I’d love, but it’s something I have come to really look forward to, especially if it’s a good match! We have lunch or dinner at the ground and I really cherish this time when we’re altogether as a family. The games can be quite emotional sometimes, tense or triumphant and this is something I love. I usually feel relaxed on a Sunday and I never really think about my Monday. I tend to tackle Monday on Monday. After the match we’ll head home, I’m a real home person and I love being there with my friends and family. I’ll light candles to calm things down and signify the beginning of the wind down, unless of course my husband or my youngest son beats me to it. We’ve got an electric lighter now and no one’s allowed to touch it but my youngest. We like anything fig scented, especially Diptyque Figuier , the fragrance reminds us of Greece (where my husband is from) and evokes found memories we share of summer and family holidays.

The Routine

My 8-year-old likes to take a bath with me, so we’ll run a deep bath and fill it with essential oils. He loves pouring all the different ‘potions’ into the water. Aromatherapy Associates is an obvious first choice, we have the Deep Relax one, but I also love the bath salts from Susanne Kaufmann. My skincare routine actually starts in the bath, I’ll wash my face using 111SKIN Exfolactic Cleanser and then I’ll reach for the 111SKIN Celestial Black Diamond Peel, which sits next to my bath salts, and I’ll leave this on for about 10-minutes. It’s made with alpha hydroxy acids and rose quartz and with the heat from the bath it feels absolutely amazing. I’m always looking to hydrate my skin, which is very thin – I think this is genetic. I spend a lot of time indoors during the week, I’m in the office every day between 10am and 6pm and sadly I don’t have the outdoor lifestyle that I’d love to have, so hydration is key for me.

When it comes to hair, my son and I have a nice hair ritual. He’ll wash and comb my hair and I’ll wash and comb his. My hair is naturally curly and I have an in-salon keratin straightening treatment put on about every 3-4 months so I like my haircare products to be quite natural, and I don’t like my hair to ever look too ‘done’. I run almost every day in the park and so when I wash my hair I like for it to stay clean for about three days, so my haircare does need to be long-lasting. I love Living Proof, it just really works. My son’s got long blonde hair and so we both benefit from a nourishing treatment after shampooing and conditioning. I like the Oribe Gold Lust Transformative Masque with white tea, baobab and jasmine extracts. Once we’re out the bath, my son will get his pyjamas on and get ready for bed and I’ll start my body routine. First, I apply 111SKIN Cryo Energising Body Serum onto wet skin, it boosts skin’s natural regenerative processes and is good for ageing skin. I like that it dries quickly and leaves skin feeling fresh, taut and more youthful all over. On a Sunday when I have more time, I’ll also use a retinol oil from our professional spa range, this is stocked in prestigious, five-star hotels across the world such as The Bulgari Hotel in London and The Four Seasons in Beverly Hills. I only ever use this oil on a Sunday as it’s very rich and so you have to put on a bath robe and let it sink in and completely absorb, and I don’t have the time to lounge around like this during the week. Before I head downstairs to join my husband, I like to apply Oribe Gold Lust Nourishing Hair Oil to the lengths and ends of my hair to seal in moisture and add shine.

Bedtime

Once the kids are in bed, my husband and I will relax. We’ll have dinner and a glass of wine and I’ll pop a face mask on. It’s very typical for me to be seen walking around with a face mask on, my kids are very used to it. Sometimes if I don’t have once they’ll ask me, “why don’t you have a mask on?” My husband might head upstairs to smoke a cigar and I’ll stay downstairs and relax. Our house was designed for relaxation. Once or twice a week I’ll have friends over for dinner, I feel my most comfortable at home, it’s like my refuge. On Sunday, we go to bed between 10pm and 11pm. We have a candle in our bedroom to help us relax and I’ll finish my skincare routine. I start with 111SKIN Daily Orbit Energising Essence NAC Y2, a step I never miss, to renew and refresh tired-looking skin and follow with 111SKIN Y Theorem Repair Serum Nac Y2 – the brand’s signature serum. My undereye area is my most problematic, so to give this a little extra love I like to mix a little bit of 111SKIN` Hyaluronic Acid Aqua Booster in with my eye cream and tap it on. Our eye creams come with a little wand, which I use around the eye to help stimulate circulation and reduce puffiness – it takes less than five minutes. Before I turn down the lights I always write in my five-minute journal, just something about my day and what I feel grateful for – I feel it makes for a good end to the day. Recently I discovered TWA’s Chocolate Tea, TWA is a herbal tea company from Signapore, and the chocolate tea is divine, it’s like a dessert. I’ll sip that while writing in my journal and then finally spritz my bed linen with This Works Pillow Spray before drifting off to sleep.

Monday Morning

My Monday morning starts with a 7am wake-up call from my son Aris. His name in Greek means ‘God of War’ and that’s literally what I think as I open my eyes. He’s my alarm clock and then I’ll get up and have a quick breakfast with him before walking him to Kensington tube station. I love our morning walk because we get to spend some quality time together. Then I come back and wake up my youngest at about 7.50am – he needs 10-minutes to wake up, but by 8am he’s up too and we have a proper breakfast. I like to run on Mondays, to clear my head. On Monday my working day begins at 10am, this is the perfect time for me to start work because I don’t like to stress about having to get ready for early morning meetings. I am a Virgo, I’m organised but I’m also very relaxed and calm. I try to always keep Monday nights free as I like to prolong my time with the kids because Saturdays are always taken up with their various extra curricula and supporting activities. Parties, homework – everything is happening on a Saturday so on Monday nights I like to be at home and have dinner with the kids.
