Why Clean?
“Natural ingredients are the best allies to cleanse and nourish hair since they now don’t require detergents or agents to make suds or shine”, says colour whizz Christophe Robin. That’s right, sulphates, parabens and silicones are no longer prerequisites for good hair days, and what’s more, “synthetic, chemical-based ingredients are formulated to target a single issue”, unlike their multi-tasking natural counterparts. Susanne Kaufmann, a brand founder who works with non-toxic ingredients, thinks haircare has gotten too complicated, and says “holistic options have everything you need to regenerate and renew hair from the inside out.”
Get Washing
Typically, sulphate-free products won’t lather as much, so if you’ve got fine hair that needs ridding of build up, you might want to wash twice. Susanne Kaufmann’s Shower/ Shampoo cleans with sage and herbal remedies and contains a precious silk protein that repairs stressed skin on the scalp. Next up is Oribe Signature Conditioner, which smooths and detangles, and even has a dose of strand strengthening keratin in there, too.
Super Stylers
For a beachy, mussed texture, “lightly mist salt spray, and then rake your fingers through your hair as it’s drying, particularly around the hairline” says session stylist Anthony Turner. Try with Herbivore Sea Mist Texturising Salt Spray Lavender, which offsets crunch with satiny aloe vera. If you’ve been overzealous with your hairdryer, pick up IGK Hair No More Blow Air Dry Spray, which will render it redundant by cutting air drying time by almost half. Work through hair in small sections for the speediest results.
Self-care Sunday
Christophe Robin Regenerating Mask with Rare Prickly Pear Seed Oil has high antioxidant value, so expect strong and supple hair. Or for a souped up clean, try the Cleansing Thickening Paste with Pure Rassoul Clay and Tahitian Algae, from the same brand, which soaks up excess oil thanks to clay sourced from the Atlas Mountains. To ensure your scalp is as strong and healthy as your hair, work a pipette full of Mauli Grow Strong Hair Oil from root to tip. Paraben and sulphate free, and vegan, leave it in for a couple of hours, or do as we do and keep in overnight before washing to reveal lustrous, high shine locks.
