We Road Test The Laneige Bouncy and Firm Mask

Laniege Bouncy and Firm Sleeping Mask review | Space NK
Whether you’re looking for a face mask to soothe redness and irritation or a formula to quench thirsty skin, Laneige will have something for you. From the ultra-hydrating Water Sleeping Mask to the seriously soothing Cica Sleeping Mask - masks are the brand’s unofficial USP and that before we even the iconic Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask.

There was one gap in Laneige’s face mask line-up and that was for those looking for a formula that would deliver plumper-looking skin. While a hydrating face mask will deliver a plumping effect, Bouncy & Firm Sleeping Mask contains a peony collagen complex that promises to help plump up and revive skin overtime. The formula also contains a probiotic complexion to support your skin barrier and lock in hydration and nutrients.

So, is the new Laneige overnight face mask worth your investment? We asked two Space NK team members to road test the mask and share their honest verdict.

Samira’s Laneige Bouncy & Firm Sleeping Mask review

Skin type: Dry to normal

The product: LANEIGE Bouncy & Firm Sleeping Mask, £ 32,00

Face masks aren’t in my regular skincare routine, I tend to reach for one if my skin feels like it needs a dose of hydration. Upon opening the Laneige Bouncy & Firm Sleeping Mask, I was impressed with the texture. I was expecting a thick, heavy formula or a balm-like mask, but it was quite light, almost gel-like and very easy to apply.

I really liked the smell too as it was clean and fresh without being too overwhelming – a big bonus when you’re about to go to bed. Laneige’s mask absorbed quickly and felt like a light gel moisturiser. I did feel a slight tightening effecting once the mask had dried, but it wasn’t unpleasant or uncomfortable – I assumed it was the formula working its magic.

Over the past fortnight, I’ve used the Laneige Bouncy & Firm Sleeping Mask four times and although I haven’t noticed any immediate effects in terms of plumper-looking skin, I would say my complexion feels more hydrated. I’ll keep using it as it’s an easy step to add into my nighttime routine and my skin feels healthier and more hydrated.

Victoria’s Laneige Bouncy & Firm Sleeping Mask review

Skin type: Dry to combination

The product: LANEIGE Bouncy & Firm Sleeping Mask, £ 32,00

There are a couple of face masks on rotation in my skincare routine at the moment – I always come back to the Sisley Black Rose Mask. As my skin leans towards to dry side of dry/combination, I prefer to use cream face masks and have been known to use them instead of moisturiser when my skin is feeling particularly dry.

Having used the LANEIGE Water Sleeping Mask, £ 28,00, I wasn’t surprised that the Bouncy & Firm Sleeping Mask had a cream-gel texture. It was very easy to apply and absorbed quickly, but I did find myself applying an extra layer and pressing it onto my skin as it didn’t feel as hydrating as I was hoping for. Saying that, my skin didn’t feel tight or dry in the morning, so the mask definitely does hydrate!

I used Laneige Bouncy & Firm Sleeping Mask three times over the three weeks I reviewed it for and didn’t notice a huge difference in the look of my complexion, but, like Samira, I’ll definitely keep using it. The texture feels very luxurious, and I think this will be a formula I’ll reach for in the spring and summer months when my skin feels like dry.

The Verdict On Laneige Bouncy & Firm Sleeping Mask

If you appreciate a luxurious texture, this mask is worth seeking out for that alone. It’s also a good option for those who want to hydrate skin, but don’t like the feel of a heavy balm-like mask. LANEIGE Bouncy & Firm Sleeping Mask, £ 32,00 sits comfortably between a cream and gel face mask, and provides a good hit of hydration.

More On Laneige

When it comes to Laneige, the Sleeping Lip Masks really do steal the show in terms of coverage on social media – and the attention is absolutely deserved as they’re phenomenal. However, the brand’s wider skincare offering shouldn’t be overlooked. The Water Bank range is such a good option for anyone with dehydrated skin and the moisturiser come in various different textures to suit all preferences.

We also wanted to mention the Cream Skin Cerapeptide Toner & Moisturizer because it’s such a nifty little product. It’s a toner and essence hybrid that helps to refine pores and hydrate to leave you with a soft, smooth canvas before you apply your serums and moisturiser. For oily skin types, it could provide enough hydration to sit alone under SPF. It’s a seriously good skincare product that deserves a lot more hype in our opinion.
