Created by Ben Gorham in response to a photograph by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, this scent represents an interpretation of the duality inherent in cross-cultural encounters and cosmopolitan living.
Gorham spent some time traveling in India, where his mother was born, and all his perfumes have a spicy quality. This one is no exception. Byredo Eau de Parfum 1996 opens with notes of black pepper and juniper which instantly mark it out as something distinctive. The romantic aromas of violet and iris root combine with the depth of black amber to alluring effect.
With vanilla to seal the deal, this is a scent nobody could forget.

Deep scent
As far as I know, this is the strongest and deepest parfum from Byredo. I tent to like these sirt of scent and I really like this one. It gives me patchouli the most, dark, thick and woody kind of scent, patchouli always improves my mood on rainy days, when it is cold outside and when I need it. So it does this parfum.

I love this
I love the majority of the Byredo perfumes and on a recent trip to London, I managed to spray this on and take away a card with it on. This will definitely be my next Byredo scent purchase - it’s amazing. It smells so luxurious and it has a depth o it without being overpowering at all. I think it will last really well as the card I have is now about 10 weeks old and I can still smell the fragrance clearly. It’s super and will be purchasing (soon I hope).
