Female Founders Share Their Beauty Heroes For IWD

Female Founders Share Their Beauty Heroes For IWD
The beauty industry might have more female founders than most, but it is still plagued with the same gender disparities as other industries. There might be more female founded beauty brands than most, but C-suite positions are still largely occupied by men. Rather aptly, the theme for International Women’s Day 2022 is #BreakTheBias with the UN calling for ‘gender equality for a sustainable tomorrow’.

Within the beauty industry there are plenty of women to celebrate on Tuesday 8th March 2022, who have been championing environmental causes and pushing a sustainable agenda. From Hourglass’ Carisa Jane who has worked tirelessly to ensure the brand’s makeup formulas are fully vegan without comprising on colour pay-off and longevity – this is no mean feat when we’re talking about red lipstick. Then there’s the likes of Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Miranda Kerr; both mothers, both models, and both female founders of beauty brands that promise to use the finest botanical ingredients encased in refillable packaging.

While the beauty industry isn’t where it needs to be in terms of gender equality and there is still a long way to go to make it as sustainable as possible, there is a lot to celebrate on International Women’s Day 2022. We wanted to give a shout out to some of our favourite female founders and ask them to share the beauty product that empowers them…
