Why This Milk Makeup Buy Is A Party Season Must

Why This Milk Makeup Buy Is A Party Season Must
The Hydro Grip Setting Spray was one of the first Milk Makeup products to sell out when the brand first launched at Space NK. While I had expected it (the setting spray went viral on TikTok earlier this year), I was still intrigued. We stock a handful of great makeup setting sprays and powders and, as the makeup buyer, I’ve tried all of them. What makes Milk Makeup Hydro Grip Setting Spray different? I tried it out for two weeks to understand the hype.

The Top Line On Milk Makeup Hydro Grip Setting Spray

Promising to fix makeup in place for up to 12 hours and give skin a glass like glow, you can see why TikTokkers wanted to try this makeup setting spray. Jam packed with skincare ingredients, it’s another skincare-makeup hybrid formula that has multiple uses, including fixing your makeup in place and hydrating skin.

Everything You Need To Know About Milk Makeup’s Setting Spray

This alcohol-free formula might have received rave reviews across TikTok, but I’ve come across plenty of viral beauty trends and products that fall short in real-life to know that you have to road test ‘TikTok favourites’ before you believe the hype. From the ingredient list alone, Milk Makeup’s setting spray ticks all the right boxes. As I mentioned it’s alcohol-free, but the brand has also included hyaluronic acid, niacinamide and aloe to hydrate, strengthen and soothe your skin.

On a side note, I’m a huge fan of skincare-makeup hybrids (makeup that offers skincare benefits) and will always gravitate towards a foundation, blusher, lipstick, you name it, that contains ingredients we’re used to seeing in our creams and serums. I wouldn’t forgo my skincare products for them, but I firmly believe that you can never have too much hyaluronic acid!

Anyway, back to the Milk Makeup setting spray. The spritz nozzle is good, so you can get away with one spray, but I’m a makeup maximalist and usually go for two before gently pressing the formula onto my skin. There is a slight tackiness, but this goes within 10 seconds. Once the formula has dried, you’d be forgiven for forgetting you’d even used it as the texture is lighter than lightweight – it’s truly impressive.

That’s not to say it disappears entirely. I can’t vouch for the staying power of Milk Makeup’s Hydro Grip Setting Spray if you’re ripping up the dancefloor in a steamy club, but I can promise it will keep your base, blusher and brows in place if you’re in the office or heading out for dinner and drinks. I also used it has a makeup refresher if I was heading out straight from the office. Two spritzes, a quick pat and my base gets a new dewy lease of life.

The Verdict On Milk Makeup Hydro Grip Setting Spray

Not everyone uses a makeup setting spray, so this isn’t a must-have product for everyone. However, if you find your makeup has evaporated into thin air by the end of the day or you want to make the switch from a powder to a spray, I would recommend Milk Makeup Hydro Grip Makeup Setting Spray, $20.00. This finish is so impressively lightweight, and it doesn’t leave a tacky or tight feeling across your forehead and cheeks.

For me, what makes this formula superior to others, is the abundance of skincare ingredients that help to hydrate and boost the look of skin. In my opinion this makeup setting spray lives up to its name without any caveats.

More From Milk Makeup

Milk Makeup is a vegan brand that loves to infuse its formulas with skin-boosting ingredients – from the peptide infused Milk Makeup Kush Lash + Brow Serum, $50.00 to the Milk Makeup Sunshine Skin Tint SPF 30, $42.00 which is packed with avocado and jojoba oils. One of my all-time favourites is the Milk Makeup Lip + Cheek, $21.00. It offers the subtlest pop of colour in one swipe which can be layered up for a more intense finish.
