Abbey Parkinson On Experimenting With Her Makeup Space

Abbey Parkinson On Experimenting With Her Makeup Space
While I might work across the incredible Space NK hand and body range and our curated beauty boxes, when it comes to my own routine, makeup is easily my favourite category. I fully appreciate the importance of a solid skincare routine and taking good care of your hair, but my heart lies with makeup.

I love experimenting with different looks and trying out the latest makeup brands and products. Whether it’s Chantecaille’s latest collection or a new Rare Beauty product, I am always keen to try something new. I would say my signature look is soft, natural glam with nude lip and eye. You’ll find the usual suspects in my makeup bag including Charlotte Tilbury, NARS and Stila, as well as a few Space NK exclusives, of course.

My Pre-Makeup Skin Routine

Make sure your skin is clean and hydrated, and your makeup will look great and last longer. Twice a day I wash my face with Dr. Barbara Sturm Cleanser, $80.00, before using Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant, $15.60 and following up moisturiser. In the mornings, I use Nimya Where It All Starts Cream, N/A as my final skincare step as it acts as a primer.

My Typical Makeup Routine

Day to day, I tend to keep my makeup routine straightforward and stick to the formulas I know work. It all starts with Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter, $51.00 in 4 mixed with Nars Light Reflecting Foundation, $53.00 in Fiji. I apply my custom blend with Rose Inc Number 3 Foundation Brush, $39.00 (this is a bestseller and worth investing in!) and blend it out with a Beauty Blender.

The same Beauty Blender also comes in very useful for blending Hourglass Vanish Airbrush Concealer, $45.50 under my eyes. Next up, I use Rare Beauty Warm Wishes Effortless Bronzer Stick, $19.95 to inject some warmth. I apply it across my cheekbones, around my temple, nose and eyelids. Then I use Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blush, $23.00 in Joy on my cheekbones and nose to add a pop of colour.

Eye makeup wise, I use Rose Inc Brow Renew Enriched Tinted Shaping Gel, $27.00, liquid liner and Hourglass Unlocked Instant Extensions Mascara, $40.00.

To ensure my complexion looks fresh, I add a dusting of in Laguna in the same areas as my cream bronzer and Nars Blush, $16.00 in the same areas as the liquid blush. I start to wrap up my makeup routine with Hourglass Veil Translucent Setting Powder, $62.00 brushed under my eyes and along my T-zone (as well as any oily bits). I then use the iconic Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick, $36.00 in Pillow Talk with the matching lip liner. A quick spritz of Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray, $26.00 and blow with Nimya Blow Before You Go Portable Fan, N/A and my makeup is complete.

How I Dial Up My Makeup

I love to experiment my makeup for festivals and parties! Recently I’ve found both TikTok and Euphoria are my go-to sources for inspiration. I’ve been swapping out my usual black liquid liner and opt for bright colours - Nars High Pigment Longwear Eyeliner, $12.00 has a great selection.

The Best Makeup Tip I’ve Ever Been Given

Using bronzer as eyeshadow gives your face a consistent glow. Plus, it’s really quick and easy to do.

The One Product I Can’t Live Without

Whether I’m wearing a full face of makeup or channelling a ‘no makeup’ makeup day, I won’t leave the house without using Hourglass Phantom Volumizing Glossy Balm, $47.00.
