When it comes to great brows, Elle McNamara, more commonly known as @BambiDoesBeauty, knows a thing or two. The Instagram star is renowned for her naturally full pair, so who better to ask for brow grooming tricks?
“To be honest, up until a few years ago when I started Bambi Does Beauty I hadn’t realised how important brows are,” says Elle. “Prior to that I’d always plucked them within an inch of their life.” Since putting the tweezers down and embracing a fuller look, Elle hasn’t looked back. Here are a few of her brow grooming pointers…
Take A Low Key Approach
When it comes to brow grooming, I’m actually incredibly low maintenance. I don’t get them regularly tinted, threaded, shaped or anything like that. In that respect, I was very lucky during lockdown as I didn’t miss not being able to book into the salon.
The Right Tools Make a Big Difference
For me, brow grooming is all in the tools. A double-sided brow brush (spoolie one side and a brush on the other) is essential. I also always carry a brow gel with me everywhere. One of my favourites is the Hourglass Arch Brow Volumizing Gel. I opt for a shade lighter than my actual brow hair for a more natural finish.
My Trick For Brow Shaping
Invest in a high quality brow serum and avoid plucking anything more than the odd stray. Your brows will be the most full and thick for the beauty therapist to work with. A brow pencil, like Kevyn Aucoin The Precision Brow Pencil, is great for defining your arch. Don’t forget to brush your brows upwards after though to avoid heavy set lines.
Believe The Hype Around Brow Serums
I find that when I’m consistent with using a brow growth serum morning and night I see a noticeable difference in the fullness of my brows. I was very sceptical of them at first, but having tried and tested a few, I can say that they do make a significant difference.
My Brow Icons
Without a doubt, Cara Delevigne, Brooke Shields (the Blue Lagoon era) and Bambi Northwood are my brow heroes.
