Your questions, Answered

It depends on your skin type and individual skin goals. If you have oily, acne-prone skin, look for a salicylic acid serum to reduce inflammation and excess oil, and loosen clogged pores. If you have dry skin, try a hydrating hyaluronic acid serum to draw moisture into the skin. For those with rosacea or sensitive skin, an azelaic acid serum will effectively soothe irritation and reduce redness over time. If you're looking to support or repair your skin barrier, try a hydrating barrier serum, like The INKEY List's.

Apply serum after cleansing for the best results. Dispense a pea-sized amount onto your fingertips and lightly press onto your skin until fully absorbed. A hydrating serum can be applied to slightly damp skin to boost absorption, while a retinol serum should be applied to completely dry skin to minimise irritation.

As a general rule, serums should be applied from thinnest to thickest. Begin with water-based serums like hyaluronic acid and niacinamide, then finish with thicker formulas such as retinol or azelaic acid. For a more detailed guide, check out our blog where we explain exactly how to layer serums.
