The Beauty Tweaks To Make In Your 60s

The Beauty Tweaks To Make In Your 60s
If I’m honest, your 60s isn’t too different to your 50s, but if you’re reading this and are a sexagenarian, you probably already know that. I’m much more laid back, as I take the view that I’m doing my best to look after my skin and there’s not a lot more I can do. At this age, I have learnt that true beauty radiates from within. There are, however, a few little tricks that I’ve learnt along the way that have ensured my skin hasn’t lost its healthy glow and left me feeling lighter on my feet.

Protection Is Prevention

I have a confession; I didn’t use any lotions or potions on my skin until I was well into my late 40s. My complexion was good, I exercised daily, and I didn’t feel the need to. By the time I reached my 50s, I took more of an interest and was introduced to my now go-to products Eve Lom Daily Protection SPF50, as well as La Mer Crème de la Mer Moisturizing Cream with SPF. Because I spend half my life living in a sunny part of France, I make sure I am fully protected at all times.

Give Your Skin A Workout

I’m a big believer in not going overboard and buying everything that promises miracles - keep your routine simple. In the last decade, I’ve become a big facial cleansing fan and cleanse every night without fail. Recently, I’ve dipped my toe into the world of face oils, which I use sparingly morning and night over my usual cream. I also practice Facial Yoga, which tones the muscles beneath your skin. My new best friend is the LED mask which I bought last year. I use it once a week for 30 minutes – it’s a great compliment to everything else I’m doing.

Take A 360 Approach

My tip to anyone in their late 50s and early 60s wanting to look and feel their best beauty wise is to consume a diet rich in plant-based food. As a Registered Public Health Nutritionist, I know enough to have always considered taking care of my insides (the gut) if we want to shine on the outside, so my diet and the amount of water I drink has played a big part. I also recommend filling your plate with skin loving antioxidants.
