Yes, Laneige Glaze Craze Lip Serums Really Are Worth The Hype

We Review The New Laneige Glaze Craze Tinted Lip Serum | Space NK

As Korean beauty continues to conquer the west through breakthrough formulas, K-beauty skincare brand Laneige has made its viral status on TikTok and other social platforms a regular occurrence. First, it was the iconic Lip Sleeping Masks – praised for their nourishing and hydrating qualities, they’ve become something of a collector’s item thanks to the brand’s limited-edition flavours and gift sets.

Continuing its success within the lipcare category, one of Laneige’s latest launches, the Glaze Craze Tinted Lip Serum, is proving to be a craze on our social feeds. Laneige has cleverly tapped into beauty’s current love for lip oils and high shine while also focusing on grade-A skincare ingredients and elevating the formula to skincare.

Laneige Glaze Craze Tinted Lip Serum stays true to the brand’s joyful nature and takes inspiration from the glazed doughnut look. But cuteness aside, this tinted lip serum is infused with 95% skincare ingredients including argan ceramides, polypeptides and polyglutamic acid, and claims to nourish the lip moisture barrier, provide hydration for up to 12 hours and make lips visibly plumper. Available in six shades, they’re designed to be buildable should you want more colour.

The new Laneige lip serum has gone down a treat, selling out pretty much instantly. So, with all the craze surrounding it, is Laneige Glaze Craze Tinted Lip Serum worth the hype? We decided test it out ourselves and see – keep scrolling to find out two of our colleagues’ verdicts…

VANESSA’S LANEIGE GLAZE CRAZE TINTED LIP SERUM REVIEW

Product reviewed: LANEIGE Glaze Craze Tinted Lip Serum in Blueberry Jelly, £ 19,00

I have very dry lips so hydrating lipcare is big on my beauty routine – but whilst I do sometimes use Laneige’s Lip Sleeping Mask, my favourite product from the brand is LANEIGE Bouncy & Firm Eye Sleeping Mask, £ 28,00. I just love the rich and tacky texture of it, it feels so soothing on the skin. So other than those products, Laneige is fairly new to my skincare collection.

Despite not being much of a lip oil girl (I usually wear bullet and matte liquid lipsticks), I was instantly curious about this new formula. As someone who loves colour on the lips, I’ve never really felt like I can achieve this with a lip oil – but Glaze Craze looked surprisingly rich in colour, so I decided to give the shade Blueberry Jelly, a reddish mauve hue, a go.

I instantly loved the packaging – the applicator really does look like a doughnut, and it feels lovely on the lips! As for the texture, it felt very hydrating and soothing – it’s not the most lightweight formula, but I still found it comfortable, pleasant and, thankfully, not sticky! Whenever I used it on its own, I did feel like it kept my lips hydrated for a good amount of time, and I didn’t find myself feeling like I had to reapply it continuously.

As for the colour payoff, I was fairly impressed – the shade does build up easily, so if you like colour, you’re in for a treat! I didn’t find the formula lasted long, but that’s just not something I expect from lip oils, glosses or tinted serums. Plus, I think it makes a lovely ‘lip topper’; this was my favourite way of wearing it. I’d apply it over my lip liner and lipstick duos if they were looking a bit worn out after eating or drinking, and I loved how fresh it made my lips look. I’m also not sure if it made my lips look any plumper than usual, although shiny finishes generally do have a plumping effect on the lips.

I’m too millennial to steer away completely from classic satin and matte lip finishes, and I love colour and definition too much to fully convert to lip oils. But I’ll definitely keep using this on top of my other colours or wear it with lip liner for a super fresh and summery look, as I do think it make the lips look very pretty!

BECCI’S LANEIGE GLAZE CRAZE TINTED LIP SERUM REVIEW

Product reviewed: LANEIGE Glaze Craze Tinted Lip Serum in Strawberry Sprinkles, £ 19,00

I’m forever applying different lip products so was the perfect candidate to try out the latest Laneige Glaze Craze Lip Serum. As someone who predominantly goes for a natural-looking lip shade during the day, I opted for the new Strawberry Sprinkles, which looks just like the baby pink tube it comes in.

I liked the doughnut-shaped applicator and it felt comfortable to apply, although if you squeeze too much out, it can be a bit messy as opposed to a slanted applicator ‘tip’ which tends to push the product right up to your lip line. Texture wise, it felt more like an oil than a serum as I could feel it on my lips, but it wasn’t sticky or uncomfortable and it left them feeling hydrated. Longevity wise, I did have to reapply after eating or drinking after a few hours – but that’s often the case with lip oils so I don’t see this as a negative.

As for the colour, it gave my lips a barely-there sheen which has been perfect in the warmer weather and when I want my makeup to look more subdued and 'glowy', rather than anything too heavy. I’ll definitely be taking it with me when I go on holiday next month to keep my lips hydrated in the heat.

THE VERDICT ON LANEIGE GLAZE CRAZE TINTED LIP SERUM

It seems like the ‘craze’ is justified: both Becci and Vanessa really liked using this Laneige lip serum. “I can see why it’s been a sellout,” says Vanessa. “Lip oils are everywhere at the moment, and this one has the added benefit of being packed with skincare ingredients. Plus, the packaging is so cute!”

The Pros: Vanessa and Becci agree that the shine is spot on and that it is a very hydrating formula. “If you like lip oils, you’re probably going to love this,” says Vanessa.

The Cons: Both our testers noted that they didn't find the formula long-lasting. “But other than that, I can’t really fault it,” says Vanessa. "I do have one 'warning' however – the sweetness of the flavour really comes through! Personally, I quite enjoy it as I have a very sweet tooth, but bear this in mind if you're not big on strong flavours."
