Drunk Elephant's Amino Rain Serum Promises Glass Skin - Does It Deliver?

With their latest product, the Amino Rain™ Glasswater Serum, Drunk Elephant is tapping into the popular ‘glass skin’ trend (which originates from Korean skincare). The seriously hydrating serum promises to boost luminosity and leave you with that radiant, glassy glow.
Packed with 1% fermented poly amino acid and a Hiya Super Hydration Water Complex (which contains four types of hyaluronic acid), the hydrating serum is also designed to improve elasticity and barrier function for firmer, plumper skin over time.
With so much hype around the new launch, we asked two members of the Space NK team to try it for themselves. Read on for their honest Drunk Elephant Amino Rain™ Glasswater Serum review.

Abbie's Drunk Elephant Amino Rain™ Glasswater Serum Review

My skin type is normal to dry, so I’m always looking for a serum that will give me hydration but also a lovely glow! My morning skincare routine usually involves a hydrating serum followed by a brightening one, as I’ve got some pigmentation I’m trying to shift. In the evening, I go in again with a hydrating serum, and sometimes a gentle exfoliant.
I’m massively into the glass skin look so I was excited to find out if the new Drunk Elephant serum really delivers. My first impression of the formula itself was that had a gorgeous milky consistency – I much prefer that over thick, heavy textures. I applied two pumps directly onto my face and noticed my skin felt, and looked, well hydrated within seconds. The finish was glowy, almost pearlescent.
It didn’t take long for the serum to sink in enough for me to go in and add my moisturiser, and it layered nicely under the rest of my skincare. Even after I applied a light amount of makeup on top, I could still see hints of the glow from the serum.
I’m hugely impressed and have been swapping out my usual hyaluronic acid serum for the Amino Rain ever since I first tried it a month ago. In my case, it definitely lives up to its claims of delivering the ‘glass skin’ effect – so I’ll continue to use it for a while!
Ruby's Drunk Elephant Amino Rain™ Glasswater Serum Review

I’ve got relatively normal skin; there’s no excessive oiliness or dryness, my only concern at the moment is sun damage. This means I’m lucky enough to freely enjoy trying new serums! I’m not loyal to a particular one, but generally, I like serums that are multi-functional and most importantly, lightweight.
Other than the glow, that’s been my favourite thing about the Amino Rain; it’s so weightless and silky, it spreads beautifully on the skin and absorbs very quickly. I was left with a healthier-looking complexion just after one use.
Having incorporated it into my skincare regime for a few weeks now, I’ve noticed the formula has a lovely shine (almost shimmer) to it. Compared to before, my skin feels bouncy and well-nourished, so I’m looking forward to seeing if I can keep up this level of hydration during the winter too.
One thing I was especially impressed with was how the nicely the serum plays with makeup. Normally, I use a primer under makeup for an added glow, but since using Amino Rain, I feel I can skip that step entirely as I’m getting the glow straight from the serum!
The Verdict On Drunk Elephant Amino Rain™ Glasswater Serum
Thanks to a glow-giving, lightweight formula, it’s safe to say the new Drunk Elephant Amino Rain serum has earned its place in our reviewers’ skincare routines.
THE PROS: If you’re looking for a hydrating serum that gives instant brightening results, or just an extra glowy base for your makeup, Amino Rain is easy to use and slots perfectly into any morning skincare routine.
THE CONS: If you have an oilier skin type or prefer a more tangible consistency in a serum, you may find the texture is too watery for you.
