We Tried Medik8's New Face Cream - Here's What You Need To Know

Medik8 Total Moisture Facial Cream review | Space NK
If you’re into your retinol creams, you’ll most likely have come across Medik8’s much-loved Crystal Retinal range. Likewise, if you have done your research on the best vitamin C serums, the British skincare brand will have come up at least once. Medik8 is renowned for using next-level science to deliver the finest quality ingredients to your skin in the most effective and efficient way – whether you’re using retinol, vitamin C or hyaluronic acid.

One of Medik8’s bestselling products is the Advanced Night Restore moisturiser. Packed full of peptides and ceramides, this night moisturiser is designed to be used after your retinol formula (or retinal, if you’re using a Medik8 serum) to help restore and strengthen your skin barrier. The rich, creamy moisturiser helps to hydrate and soothe skin while also smoothing out any fine lines and wrinkles as you sleep. Up until now there wasn’t really a daytime equivalent.

Enter Medik8 Total Moisture Daily Facial Cream. This moisturiser promises to hydrate your skin for up to 100 hours, as well as support your barrier with a prebiotic peptide complex. We asked two Space NK team members to put Medik8’s moisturiser to the test and share their honest feedback. Here’s everything you need to know about Medik8 Total Moisture Daily Facial Cream…

Rebecca’s Medik8 Total Moisture Daily Facial Cream Review

Skin type: Normal to dry

The product: Medik8 Total Moisture Daily Facial Cream, € 52,00

Before and after Medik8 Total Moisture Facial Cream | Space NK

Before reviewing Medik8’s moisturiser, I’d only tried the brand’s SPF and I wasn’t particularly consistent with my application, so I was looking forward to trialling this cream. My skin was generally alright, but I did have some dryness around my nose and mouth.

The moisturiser felt super luxurious and comforting – I’d say the texture was almost ‘bouncy’, leaning towards gel. I felt like I could probably turn the pot upside down and the formula would stay put. It felt very lightweight on my skin and gave my complexion a lovely plump glow.

I slotted the moisturiser into my skincare routine after my serum and before my SPF. I’m not wedded to one particular SPF or foundation, so I can safely say that Medik8’s moisturiser layers well under a range of different brands and formulas without feeling heavy or cloying.

It became part of my morning routine for a month, and I will 100% be using this moving forward. In fact, it’s a moisturiser I’d repurchase, especially as it’s available as a refill.

Dotty’s Medik8 Total Moisture Daily Facial Cream review

Skin type: Normal to dry

The product: Medik8 Total Moisture Daily Facial Cream, € 52,00

Before and after Medik8 Total Moisture Facial Cream | Space NK

To my shame, I’d never used a Medik8 product before so I was very intrigued to see if the brand lived up to the hype – there are a lot of Medik8 fans in the Space NK office! Before I started the review, my skin was feeling fresh but lacked a little moisture. I’m forever trying to improve my skin, so I was looking for a hit of long-lasting hydration.

The texture was very velvety and there was a fresh, clean scent. I would recommend taking a less is more approach as I definitely used too much the first couple of times. My skin felt plumped and hydrated almost immediately and the feeling lasted throughout the day.

I used Medik8’s Total Moisture Daily Facial Cream morning and night every day, and I will absolutely keep using this formula. It’s such great value for money and gives your skin a boost of vibrancy. I was seriously impressed with this moisturiser.

Our Verdict on Medik8’s Total Moisture Daily Facial Cream

If you’re in the market for a new moisturiser, Medik8 Total Moisture Daily Facial Cream, € 52,00 should be on your shopping list. The cream received rave reviews from both Dotty and Rebecca in terms of the texture and the hydrating and plumping benefits.

Pros: It delivers impressive hydration without feeling too thick or heavy. The hydrating, hyaluronic acid and peptide-packed formula and lightweight consistency lends itself to all skin types, including those with sensitive and oily complexions. It’s super adaptable to all skincare routines as you can use it in the morning and evening.

Cons: There are very few downsides to this formula, but if you’re using it as a day moisturiser it doesn’t include any sun protection, so you’ll have to apply your SPF on top.

More from Medik8

If you like your skincare to be jam-packed with active ingredients, Medik8 is most definitely a brand to explore properly. The brand’s philosophy is based on using vitamin C as part of your morning routine to reap the ingredient’s antioxidant benefits, as well as its glow-boosting results. For your evening routine, Medik8 recommends using a vitamin A formula to help repair skin and boost your cell renewal process.

Keen to give it a go? Look to the Medik8 C-Tetra Lipid C Radiance Serum, € 44,85 for your morning routine and Medik8 Crystal Retinal 3, € 56,35 before bed (there are stronger retinal serums if you’re well-versed with the ingredient).

If you’re looking for extra hydrating and nourishment, Medik8 has you covered with this too. Medik8 Hydr8 B5 Intense, € 23,00 and Medik8 Lipid-Balance Cleansing Oil, € 33,35 are two of the brand’s bestselling products and leave your skin feeling softer and plumper. We’d recommend using them alongside this moisturiser if your skin is feeling particularly dry and dehydrated.
