On Sunday Afternoon Pottering…

On a Sunday afternoon I love to potter around. I’ll clean all my makeup brushes for the week ahead, play with my cats and watch my favourite dramas or box sets. I love House and any tense crime or detective dramas. I’m also a big fan of Call the Midwife.

On Steve Wright Sunday Love Songs…

I religiously take a bath on Sunday mornings. There’s something incredibly relaxing about a long soak. I’ll have an eclectic playlist on in the background or Steve Wright’s Sunday Love Songs. The volume is turned up and I love to sing along. Everyone’s singing voice sounds good in the bathroom, right?!

On Minimal Beauty Routines…

My bathroom cabinet is much fuller than it should be, I like trying new products and am lucky to be sent quite a number to try. However, my day-to-day beauty regimen is actually quite minimal. I respect my skin’s natural barrier and don’t like to overload it with products. I  cleanse with Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cleanser or Emma Hardie Amazing Face Moringa Cleansing Balm, followed by Caudalie Vinopure Toner. I love Sunday Riley’s Tidal Brightening Enzyme Water Cream – it absorbs so well and doesn’t leave any greasy residue, which I’m not a fan of. I also spritz my face anytime of the day with a cooling facial mist like Caudalie Beauty Elixir.

On Sunday Morning Face Masks…

I have combination skin, with the early signs of ageing. It’s not particularly sensitive and I’m lucky I don’t suffer from breakouts. On a Sunday I try not to wear makeup and like to use a pore-clearing clay mask, such as Fresh Umbrian Clay Purifying Mask, or a hydrating formula with a jade facial roller to help push the product into my skin, as well as boost my circulation.

On Achieving That Healthy Glow…

My skincare tip is to drink plenty of water. It really does plump and hydrate the skin and gets rid of any toxins. Also using a facial roller is a great way to improve circulation and get that healthy glow.

On Sunday Evening Pedicures…

I like to give my feet some extra attention after my Sunday bath. Usually getting rid of any dry skin with an exfoliating device, followed with a deep moisturiser and a home pedicure.

On Gentle Shampoos And Cold Rinses…

My hair is long and thick, oilier at the roots and dryer on the ends and I tend to wash it every other day. I’m a fan of Bumble and Bumble Gentle Shampoo and alternative between that and a good detox shampoo, because I live in a hard water area, so I try to use something that removes pollution and product build-up. On a Sunday I do like to use a good hair mask while I’m in the bath and then rinse it off in cold water to boost shine.

On Skipping The Straighteners…

I’m not one to spend hours styling; I dry it upside down for speed and then tame it with straighteners. If I’m working from home, I forgo the straighteners as they’re not great for my hair’s condition.

On Sleep Troubles…

While I definitely need my sleep and am nearly always in bed by 10pm, I don’t sleep particularly well. I find it hard to switch off. In the past, I’ve tried mindfulness and breathing techniques, but I’m not good at relaxing in general. At the moment, I’m experimenting with spritzing my pillow with natural lavender oil, which does seem to have a calming effect. I’ve also banned any technology in the bedroom and prefer to either read or come up with a few creative ideas.

On A Good Cup Of Tea (Or Two)…

I can’t say that I’m a morning person, it takes me a while to warm up. My alarm goes off at 7am, although I’m usually awake at 6.30am. The first thing I do is put the kettle on – I need two strong cups of tea to get me started. Then, I’ll feed the cats and make breakfast before waving my daughter off to school.
