Our Tried & Tested Self-Care Routine For Skin

Self-care skincare tips | Space NK
After a busy end to the year, we’ve decided our New Year’s beauty resolution will be to slow down and take some time back to spend on our skincare routine. Whether it’s dedicated self-care day (#selfcaresundays still has a calming ring to it), the promise of taking an everything shower once a week or carving out 10 minutes every evening to make our skincare routine feel more like a self-care ritual, we’re determined to stick to this resolution.

Over the past couple of weeks, we’ve tried and tested several self-care routines and settled on the six steps below. From cleansing to moisturising, this is a full evening skincare routine that will keep your skin feeling soft, smooth and hydrated throughout the colder months. We’ve also included some self-care routine tips to help you relax and unwind.

6-Step Self-Care Routine For Skin

01

Tatcha

The Rice Wash, € 47,00

Step 1: Cleanse
Tatcha founder Vicky Tsai treats her morning and evening cleanses like mini rituals. “We rarely consciously touch our skin with purpose throughout the day unless we’re cleansing and that contact is so important,” Vicky told us when she visited London. The Rice Wash cleanser has the dreamiest texture that you can really work into your skin without causing irritation. It removes dirt, grime and makeup, and leaves your skin feeling soft and bouncy. It’s the perfect first step to any self-care routine for skin.

Reome

Active Recovery Broth, € 85,00

Step 2: Soothe
Jam-packed with 16 bio-fermented and biomimetic actives, this treatment serum helps to soothe, replenish and hydrate your skin. Created by board certified acupuncturist Joanna Ellner, REOME’s Active Recovery Broth blends science with a holistic approach. Most notably, the texture of the formula gives you enough slip to massage it into your skin and boost your circulation without feeling greasy. It’s a true skincare find.

FACEGYM

Weighted Face Ball, € 42,00

Step 3: Massage
Gua Sha tools have had a lot of attention over recent years, and they are very effective at boosting lymphatic drainage and sculpting over time. This year though, we’ve started using the FaceGym Weighted Face Ball to help improve circulation, ease tension and boost improve overall radiance. There is a non-weighted option, but we prefer this one as it allows you to apply more pressure. We roll this across our face and decolletage for about two minutes after applying our REOME Recovery Broth in the evening.

NATURIUM

Plant Ceramide Rich Moisture Cream, € 31,00

Step 4: Hydrate
You might want to choose between step four and five in our self-care routine or follow both depending on your skin type and concern. Applying a buttery soft face cream like Naturium Plant Ceramide Rich Moisture Cream is an essential step in any skincare routine, whether you’re nodding to the self-care element or not. We love this particular moisturiser because it absorbs quickly and helps to strengthen our skin barrier. You can also use it as part of your morning and evening routine.

Sunday Riley

Luna Sleeping Retinoid Night Oil, € 53,50

Step 5: Repair
Massaging in a gloriously smooth face oil screams self-care to us, but what we love about Sunday Riley’s Luna Sleeping Night is that it contains a potent retinol complex too. The multitasking oil helps to repair and revive dull, tired skin, as well as lock in moisture. Depending on your skin type, you might want to use this as part of your evening skincare routine once, twice or three times a week. Remember it’s retinol, so incorporate it into your regimen gently.
