Everything You Need To Know About Caroline Hirons' New Rich Cream

Skin Rocks The Rich Moisturiser review | Space NK
Earlier this year, Caroline Hirons unveiled The Moisturiser, a solid, all-round face cream that is suitable for all skin types. Available in fragrance and fragrance-free, The Moisturiser has become a firm favourite with Skin Rocks fans as it’s packed full of hydrating ingredients, including hyaluronic acid and squalane, and can be used alongside vitamin C and retinol serums. Now that the colder weather has set in, Caroline Hirons has dropped a more intense version: Skin Rocks The Rich Cream.

Just like the OG, The Rich Cream is available with and without fragrance. It also contains nourishing essential fatty acids and olive glycerides, as well as oat kernel oil to help strengthen your skin barrier. “This face cream has a rich texture that still feels light on the skin and absorbs, layers and applies beautifully,” Caroline tells us. “It works brilliantly under makeup, over SPF and I love to use it before bed.”

We asked two people to try the Skin Rocks The Rich Moisturiser for one month to see how they got on. Space NK’s trade marketing coordinator Joseph Wright is always on the hunt for the next best face cream to keep his dry skin hydrated and radiant, while our social media coordinator Hannah Madronero asked her mum, Maria to try out Caroline Hirons’ latest formula. I am very passionate about face cream and love formulas that really quench my skin’s thirst. Hyaluronic acid is a key ingredient that I search for on the ingredients list. I’m not so fussed about how thick the formula is, as long as it feels luxe and hydrating. Before I started using Skin Rocks The Rich Moisturiser for a month, I was having a little flare up of dry patches on my chin, which were quite itchy and the formula definitely helped alleviate these quickly so we were off to a good start.

I used the Skin Rocks The Rich Moisturiser in the morning and evening after my essence. What I did notice was it does take a bit of time of absorb and you do have to spend some time rubbing it in, especially over stubble! That being said, once it has soaked in, your skin feels amazing.

After four weeks of using The Rich Moisturiser twice a day, I’m definitely happy with how my skin looks and feels, and I’m going to finish the pot. I doubt I’ll use this face cream after that because I like a formula that gives my skin a noticeable glow.

Before and after using Skin Rocks The Rich Moisturiser

My skin was in full winter mode before I started trying the Skin Rocks The Rich Moisturiser; it was very dry, uncomfortable and in need of moisturiser. For a couple of months prior I hadn’t been using a face cream as I’d run out of my favourite night cream, which included ceramides, hyaluronic acid, avocado oil and shea butter.

I used The Rich Moisturiser every morning and night. The texture was quite thick, and I found it didn’t absorb as quickly as I would have liked it to, and it felt a little tacky. Although, I did thoroughly enjoy how supple my skin felt, especially in the morning.

After a month of using Skin Rocks moisturiser, my skin looked more radiant and had more elasticity. I’m going to keep using the formula, but I’ll probably just apply it in the evening, so it has more time to sink in.

The verdict on Skin Rocks The Rich Moisturiser

Both Joseph and Maria raved about how good their skin felt after using Skin Rocks The Rich Moisturiser, £65. As both have dry to very dry skin, it’s clear that this is a winning formula is you struggle to keep your skin feeling soft and hydrated. “I’d definitely recommend this to someone with dry skin, who’s looking for a good moisturiser that soothes dryness and any irritation,” says Joseph. Maria would also recommend this to both her husband and friends with mature and dry skin.

Should You Use Skin Rocks The Rich Moisturiser or The Moisturiser?

If you’ve read our review, but you’re not 100% sure which Skin Rocks moisturiser will work best for you, it’s worth considering your skin type and needs. The Moisturiser is a great moisturiser for all skin types as it’s packed full of hyaluronic acid, squalane and ceramides. However, if your skin is on the drier side and you like a richer texture, The Rich Moisturiser might deliver the results you’re looking for.

More From Skin Rocks

Caroline Hirons’ skincare line is incredibly streamlined and easy to shop. There’s a cleanser, two retinol serums, two moisturisers and a face oil. The retinol serums are available in two strengths depending on whether you’re a beginner or a vitamin A pro, and the other formulas are available as fragranced or fragrance-free. While we have no doubt there are more Skin Rocks products in the pipeline, we are confident that Caroline won’t launch anything for the sake of it or if the formula isn’t the best it can possibly be.
