Helps treat: Signs of ageing and uneven skin texture

Feels like: An oil-like serum

Recommended for: This high strength retinol will help reduce signs of ageing and improve skin’s radiance

Fight visible signs of ageing with The Ordinary Retinol 1% in Squalane, a water- and silicone-free skincare treatment enriched with vitamin A to help revitalise the complexion.

The highly stable retinol present in this formula works to reduce the appearance of fine lines, photo damage and general signs of skin ageing. It also encourages natural cell turnover, helping to promote softer and healthier-looking skin while working to minimise the appearance of blemishes and dark spots.

As retinol can cause irritation to the skin, newer technologies now exist to mimic the visible effects of retinol without causing as much discomfort for the skin. With this in mind, The Ordinary recommends beginning with lower concentrations in order to build up tolerance.

Key Benefits

  • Works to reduce the appearance of fine lines and general skin ageing
  • Promotes healthier-looking skin while minimising the look of blemishes
  • Water and silicone-free solution with 1% retinol
  • Vitamin A-rich retinol helps minimise signs of hyperpigmentation
  • Vegan and cruelty-free

does nothing

First of all, I find this serum being on the sticky side, possibly because of the squalane in it. Secondly, I think it is cheap for a reason, it really doesn't do anything. This isn't the first time I have tried products from the ordinary, however, even though the price point is very very attractive, indeed, their products do not deliver any results and fence ended up being a waste of money.

A solid retinol

I really liked this retinol as my first introduction to the ingredient. the formula was nice and light weight and sunk into the skin nicely. the only reason I have moved away from it is because my skin favours a more cream based suspension of retinol. This is a great introduction to retinol as an ingredient and the price cant be beaten.

Is this a new formula?

I've used the ordinary products for years and gone through multiples of things. I've used retinol before, specifically this retinol and I re bought it. Except this time my reacts with itchiness, bumps, and plaque like patches of dry skin. It takes a week before it goes away and will even spread to areas like my ear lobes which have no product. I'm wondering if the formula has changed over the past few months?

Skin's friend

I've been using 1% Retinol for nearly two months, applying it twice a week. It's effectively reducing new wrinkles and diminishing the color of acne signs. After applying Retinol, I follow up with hyaluronic acid and then a gel cream. Two tips: Avoid sleeping immediately after using the serum to prevent it from running into your eyes; wait for it to absorb. Also, store the Retinol in the fridge.

Leave out the Jojoba oil please!!!

I have been using your products going on a year now. I am 68, with deep wrinkles, textured skin, and sunspots. I do love the niacinamide powder mixed in a bit of water in my palm to lighten those spots. The Argireline for relaxing wrinkles is great too, as is Matrixyl 10% + HA. I do know serums will only go so far with my issues . I do as others have said too, notice good improvements. I have spent( for me on social security) quite a bit of money here) but hey! I am worth it , right? I do wish with all my heart you all would consider making a 1% retinol without the jojoba oil. It clogs pores and no matter how lightly applied feels awful on my face in this formula. When I apply moisturizer after I get teeny tiny bumps( bought your moisturizer) Really take it out!!! It ruins the serum! If your squalane is made from olives that should suffice. 🙏 thanks . Ihave seen improvements with the other things I buy, 😀
