Your Questions, Answered

For a youthful flush of colour, focus blush on the apples of your cheeks. For a lifted effect, apply it higher on the cheekbones and blend upwards and outwards towards the temples. You can even sweep a little over the nose for a pretty, sun-kissed look.

The easiest way to apply powder blush is with a fluffy or angled brush. When it comes to cream blush or liquid blush, you can use your fingers or a sponge as well as a brush. Ultimately, there are lots of ways to apply blush, so it’s a case of finding the technique that works best for you.

If your skin has a cool undertone, try rose, berry, mauve and cool pink shades. Warmer undertones will likely suit warm pinks, corals and peachy hues. If you have a deeper skin tone, rich and vivid shades like fuchsia, purple-pink and red can work beautifully. Those with neutral undertones will suit a wide range of hues, but blush isn’t an exact science, so if you’re drawn to a particular colour, consider trying it in-store.

Liquid and cream blush are generally considered to give a punchier, more skin-like finish than powder blush and can be particularly flattering on drier skin. Many liquid formulas work well for oilier skin types too. If you love bold pigment or want your blush to last longer, layering powder over a cream or liquid blush is a great way to maximise colour and staying power.
