Space NK’s 2024 Big Beauty Round-up

Space NK's Big Beauty Roundup 2024
Wow, what a year. 2024 has seen Space NK seriously glow up and grow up, with lots of new stores opening across the UK (Trafford Centre, you were amazing) plus two relocations to bigger, better spaces that have made our Kingston and Covent Garden stores look even more incredible. There’s been new brands – Then I Met You, Glossier, Westman Atelier and Dyson all arrived at Space NK, along with the UK exclusives of brands including DedCool, May Lindstrom and JOONBYRD.

If you were lucky enough to get hold of our 2024 Space NK advent calendar, you did well, it sold out in under two weeks, faster than we could ever have imagined. And our travel bags have continued to rocket with one selling every five minutes. They really are a Space NK essential and the perfect place to store your most-treasured products, whether you’re home or away.

With nine new Space NK stores on the horizon in 2025 and plenty more exclusives and new brands in the pipeline, we can’t stop, won’t stop bringing you the best in beauty. And until then, here’s the products, brands and categories you’ve been stockpiling over the past 12 months…it makes for an interesting read.

The Number One Bestsellers

Bestselling brands 2024 | Space NK

As a category, lips are still getting everyone excited, with more than one lip product sold every minute. Of the 525,600 lip products sold this year, 100,000 of those were from Laneige - the Lip Sleeping Mask that’s been a viral sensation, we’re looking at you. Summer Fridays’ Lip Butter Balm has been another consistent winner, with almost every influencer in our new store booklets crediting the product to keep their lips pillowy soft and lightly tinted.

Outside of lips, Rare Beauty Soft Pinch Liquid Blush continues to fly. We flagged it in our 2023 beauty roundup and your love for it has blossomed with over 160,000 of the cheek enhancer sold. Another classic, Hourglass Vanish Airbrush Concealer has grown in popularity by 250% and risen on the podium from bronze to gold, taking the Space NK win for our number one concealer, while Charlotte Tilbury’s Hollywood Flawless Filter remains your chosen highlighter of 2024.

As for skin, it was Tatcha’s Dewy Skin Cream that reigned supreme in skincare and became the number one bestselling product in the entire business, while Caudalie Vinoperfect Brightening Dark Spot Serum was your favourite serum. BYOMA also caused a stir with customers immediately snapping up their Moisturising Gel Cream and the launch of Starface Pimple Patches has been wild. To date, 1,547,136 individual spot stickers have been sold which is enough to cover 2.5 football pitches. Mind blown.

Skin tints overtake foundation

Skin Tints 2024 | Space NK

Whether it was a spin off of 2024’s ‘clean beauty’ no makeup look, or the fact people are simply craving lighter coverage complexion products with skincare benefits (hydrating, plumping, protecting), skin tints have been a growing category at Space NK, selling three times more than last year.

A progression from old school ‘tinted moisturisers’, products like Hourglass Veil Hydrating Skin Tint, Glossier Perfecting Skin Tint, Ilia Super Serum Skin Tint and the Lisa Eldridge Seamless Skin Enhancing Tint are leading the revolution, with Lisa’s version scooping the number one foundation slot for the first month it launched in March.

With whisperings of Laura Mercier shaking up the market in early 2025 with its own version and Vieve adding to its Skin Nova line, skin tints show no signs of slowing down in 2025.

Body wash is booming

Bestselling Bodycare 2024 | Space NK

TikTok is responsible for a lot of beauty trends these days and while some we’ll happily leave behind, #showertok is one everyone can get on board with. No longer a quick ‘wash and go’ experience, bathing has been propelled to the most indulgent at-home self-care experience on offer with textures, ingredients, scents and even the bottles themselves all working together to upgrade your bathroom aesthetic. And how do we know you’re all rethinking your own routine? Because we’ve sold more units of body wash this year than lipsticks, which is insane!

“Brands like Naturium, Aesop, Necessaire and even our own Space NK Bath and Body range have been drawing in customers who are keen to elevate their shower time,” says Emily Montila, Space NK senior skincare buyer. “BYOMA launched bodycare and we launched JOONBYRD as a UK exclusive to customers. The Moon Swim Body Wash and Little Love Body Lotion, have become real hero products. As well as containing proven skincare ingredients like niacinamide, beta-carotene and hyaluronic acid, just look at the bottles – who wouldn’t want to show them off in their bathroom?”

Phlurmania has arrived

Bestselling fragrance 2024 | Space NK

Scent at Space NK has been huge this year. We’ve welcomed heritage brands including Hermes and Creed, bagged the UK exclusive of DedCool and expanded our fragrance portfolio with Vyrao functional fragrances, D.S & Durga fragrance enhancers and Sana Jardin’s sustainable scents that harness the healing power of flowers.

That said, there’s one brand that you’ve gone crazy for and that’s Phlur. The cool, colourful brand whose fragrances are inspired by experiences and feelings that can transcend between personal moments and shared memories, it’s been our fastest growing fragrance brand of 2024. Spurred on by the resurgence of gourmand scents, the sweet and creamy Vanilla Skin Body Mist continues to sellout time and time again, and the corresponding Eau de Parfum, which launched in September, has been equally as in demand. Combined, we’ve sold enough litres of the Phlur Vanilla Skin fragrance to fill over 1,500 Stanley water bottles!

Cementing the desire for boujee body mists, Phlur has also given you the prettiest portfolio to choose from. Mango Mood, Amber Haze, Moonstone, Dragon Fruit and the latest additions, Caramel Skin and Coconut Skin have seen fans stock up on the entire selection. With big plans for 2025, Phlur groupies will be pleased to hear that there’s talk of deodorants, new fragrances and bath and body extensions of your ultimate favourites.

Scalp care is the new hair care

Scalpcare 2024 | Space NK

Education around the importance of scalp care has increased and is fast becoming recognised as the first step in your haircare routine. Essential for hair health, if your scalp is suffering, it can impact everything from hair growth, texture and hydration to oil production, irritation and sensitivity. With stats showing online searches on scalp care have increased by 50% in the past year and average weekly views for scalp care products have increased by 286%, #scalpcare has also amassed 1.4billion views on TikTok. Proof it’s one hot topic.

Space NK has responded by welcoming an array of products designed to care for and protect your scalp. Ouai Scalp & Body Scrub gently gets rid of product build up and dry skin that could clog hair follicles and cause hair to look dull; Living Proof Scalp Care Density Serum contains zinc and pea extract to strengthen the scalp; Color Wow Youth Juice Collagen Scalp Treatment works to deliver essential nutrients to the hair and skin that promote hair growth and protect from environmental aggressors while Coola’s Daily Protect Scalp Mist is a non-greasy formula that protects the hair and scalp from UVA and UVB damage.

With no signs of the category slowing down in the future, keep your eyes peeled for more scalp care must-haves coming soon, including a special Space NK accessory to be revealed soon.

Our 2025 Trend Predictions:

Bestselling makeup brand 2024 | Space NK

Even more lips – If you thought lip products had peaked, think again. Lip oils will continue to boom. More hydrating than a gloss, it’s an extension of the skincare-makeup hybrid that ensures lips are cared for but most of all, the high shine effect makes them look plumped up in a single swipe. As some might guess, Laneige and Rare Beauty are at the forefront of this trend but look out for other brands following suit.

Fruity fragrances – Gourmand perfumes stole the show in 2024 and those foodie flavours are carrying on into 2025 but instead of creamy vanillas and coffee notes, things are getting fruity. Black cherry is making its way into Glossier’s new range, launching in January along with Elemis’ iconic Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm that will get a limited edition black cherry makeover. Elsewhere, Phlur and Ellis Brooklyn are plumping for peach to add sweetness to their scents.

Brown mascara and bright eyeshadow – ““Trend wise for spring 2025 we’re going to see a real return to the eye category which has been quiet over the past few years. Multiple brands are launching brown mascara and a real move away from traditional day to day core black for a softer but brightening effect. Alongside this eye shadow is back but across fun colour ways - think aqua blue, turquoise and lavenders. It’s all about embracing pops of colour and not being afraid to express yourself,” says Julie Philip, Space NK makeup buyer.

Brand collaborations – OK, so our buyers won’t reveal too much about this but what we do know is that 2025 is going to see some incredible collaborations cross category, especially when it comes to hair and fragrance. Watch this space!
