The highly stable retinol present in this formula works to reduce the appearance of fine lines, photo damage and general signs of skin ageing. As retinol can cause irritation to the skin, newer technologies now exist to mimic the visible effects of retinol without causing as much discomfort for the skin. With this in mind, The Ordinary recommends beginning with serums with lower concentrations of retinol in order to build up tolerance.

Apply a small amount to face in the PM as part of your skincare regimen, after water-based serums but before heavier treatments.
Do not use with other retinoid treatments. Avoid unprotected solar exposure.
Caution: Retinol can cause irritation, redness and peeling, especially around the eyes and mouth, in the early stages of treatment while skin builds tolerance. If persistent irritation occurs, cease use and consult a physician.
Use only as directed on unbroken skin. Patch testing prior to use is advised. Keep out of reach of children. Refrigerate after opening.

A good regular retinol
I have been using this for a few years now and it is a regular for me, it's a low percentage which is perfect for me and keeps my skin even. It's a great introductory product to retinol as it is very affordable and not too much for those that are new to retinol
Best Use: Treat Pigmentation / Dark Spots, Uneven Skin Texture

Not for me
Can't say how effective it is, but I really did not like the way this felt on my skin, super oily. It also smelled really oily, and the next morning my face and pillow smelled like oil that had been sitting around for months (rancid). Only used it twice and got the granactive retinoid emulsion instead which I find much better as far as the feel and the smell are concerned.

Budget friendly retinol
Absolutely love this! Bought it on a whim when checking out and seeing it at a reduced price. Had a look at the reviews and I am not disappointed! If you haven’t already purchased, I would highly advise you do! I have since gone on to purchase more of the products from this brand!
