The Skin Prep

My evening routine starts with a thorough cleanse using Sisley-Paris Lyslait Cleansing Milk, £100, which removes my makeup too. I follow up with Sisley-Paris Floral Toning Lotion, £90 to erase any excess traces of makeup and cleanser. Next, I apply a few drops of Sisley-Paris Black Rose Precious Face Oil, £195. It's a really nourishing oil which instantly absorbs into skin and leaves it looking radiant and plumped. I then use Sisley-Paris Sisleÿa L'integral Anti-age Extra-rich, £418 and . I always save time to use the ridoki tool (it comes with the eye cream) to massage the fragile area around my eyes – it makes such a difference in the morning.

Massage Matters

I also do a quick neck massage with upwards movements. I aim for 20 strokes. During lockdown I learned these new massage techniques and I have incorporated them into my evening routine. Our scientists all agree that massage help the creams work even better.

My Screen-Free Zone

Early in the week I like to go to bed early, usually at around 10pm so that I have time to read. Later in the week, from Thursday onwards it's more like 10.30pm to 11pm. I spend enough time looking at screens, so before bed I like to spend any where between 30 to 45 minutes reading – it’s always a book and never a Kindle. I have just finished an English book called Villandry, a less well-known Charlotte Bronte novel which I loved. It was recommended to me by my niece. Now I am reading L'Anomalie, which won the Goncourt - the French equivalent of the Booker Prize. It's very good too!

Worthy Bedtime Reads

Classics and re-reading classics is never wasted time. I love books like War and Peace by Tolstoy, which I've read at several points in my life. With each read I’ve noted different aspects or characters. I’m also a huge fan of biographies. One I really liked was the biography of David Hockney by Christopher Sykes – Hockney is one of my favourite painters. If I’m feeling stressed out and need to pause, I like to dip into spiritual books such as The Universe Has Your Back by Gabrielle Bernstein, which helps to reset my perspective.

Bedtime Essentials

Alongside the book I’m reading, I also have , This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray, £24, a glass of water, and flowers or a plant on my bedside table.
