How To Build The Ultimate Palette For Your Eye Colour

How to find the best eyeshadow for you | Space NK
How many times have you bought an eyeshadow palette, fallen in love with two or three of the shades and left at least one colour almost entirely untouched? Finding the right eyeshadow for your eye colour, skin tone and vibe can be surprisingly tricky.

Whether you like to look effortlessly put together or prefer to channel high-octane glamour, the right eye palette can be hugely helpful. Fortunately, Hourglass has come to the rescue with its latest, and some may say greatest, launch. The new Curator Eye Shadow Palette is an eyeshadow quad available in six artfully created shades.

What makes Hourglass’ eyeshadow palette so special? First and foremost, the formula is a creamy powder that glides on and blends seamlessly. Secondly, each palette is named after an art movement and includes four flattering shades, so you can treat your face like a canvas to be painted. But how do you know if the Modernist or Futurist will suit you best?

How To Find The Right Eyeshadow For You

There are six artistic palettes at your disposal, and of course, you can choose the quartet of shades that sings to you the most. However, for those who prefer a little more guidance, there are a few colour chart pointers that can make life a little easier. If you don’t know where to start when it comes to choosing a shade or palette, we recommend starting with your eye colour. Regardless of whether you’re applying a wash of colour or a full-blown smoky eye, there are some shades that will naturally make your eyes pop. We’ve created a breakdown below with the help of makeup artist Adam Sidwell.

If You Have Blue Eyes…

“Opt for warm golden and sunset shades as they will really enhance your blue eyes,” says Adam. We recommend choosing the Hourglass Curator Eye Shadow Palette in Futurist, as the burnt orange, golden brown and amber hues will make your blue eyes pop.

If You Have Hazel Eyes…

“Violet and amethyst shades will highlight the pale green in hazel eyes,” says Adam. Hourglass’ Modernist palette has a collection of cool mauve hues with a soft neutral and richer tone to add definition. “These shades will really bring out the dimension in your eyes,” he adds.

If You Have Green Eyes…

“To enhance green eyes, focus on crimson, purple, and burgundy shades and a beautiful rose gold,” says Adam. Although slightly subtler than Adam recommends, Hourglass’ Realist palette is ideal for taking you from desk to dinner effortlessly.

If You Have Brown Eyes…

“Those with brown eyes are lucky—it’s the most versatile eye colour and all eyeshadow shades will suit you, so run free,” says Adam. Depending on your mood, we’d recommend the Expressionist with its bronze and metallic shades or the softer Idealist that champions all things rose.
