I don’t contour every day as my usual makeup look is pretty simple, but if I want to feel more put together, I’ll always add in a contour step. Typically, I use powders as I find them easier to work with. However, I absolutely love cream products in the summer – they tend to blend better with the rest of my makeup and, in my opinion, can look more natural than powder.

My first thoughts on Face Trace? I fell in love with the packaging instantly, it’s so slick and chic! The magnetic lid feels so satisfying, and of course, I love that it’s secure and the product won’t spill all over my makeup bag.

I applied Face Trace straight from the bullet to my face and drew lines under my cheekbones and jawline and down each side of my nose. The applicator was small enough to allow precision, and I used the edges of it to create thin lines and map out where I wanted to contour. I then took a dense brush to pat it in. It blended in so easily, I loved that it was a quick process and didn’t make my routine a lot longer!

The texture was gorgeous and the perfect kind of creaminess – not too creamy that it would smudge everywhere! It glided on so smoothly without tugging and felt really lightweight. It was easy to blend and perfectly pigmented – a little goes a long way and you can build it up if you wish. The finish was super natural, and the shade was the perfect level of coolness to get the look of high cheekbones.

Despite my skin’s oiliness, it lasted really well. On one occasion I did ‘top up’ for my dinner plans after having worn it all day – but that was just to perfect it, as I could still see definition.

I’ll be adding this to my everyday routine. It’s quick, easy and I’m in love with the results, so I can’t go back to a routine without it!

I’ll be honest – the word contour intimidates me. As much as I’d love to make my cheekbones look perfectly lifted and sculpted, I worry about creating lines on my face that will just look unnatural. So, I simply try to add definition and warmth (‘brontouring’, if you will), and try so with products such as Nars Laguna Bronzing Powder in Laguna 03, £36.00, Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Contour Wand, £30.00 and Rare Beauty Warm Wishes Effortless Bronzer Stick, £15.40.

As excited as I was to try Face Trace, I was a little nervous too. Would I be able to make the most of this very pretty contour stick? Or would I end up looking like a mess?

I applied Face Trace in the spots where I usually add bronzer or contour products – the hollows of my cheeks, my jawline, down the sides of my nose and temples. Thankfully, all initial nerves were put at ease pretty much instantly. The texture of Face Trace is lovely – super creamy. For some reason, I expected it to be somewhat sheer – but no, this is a product rich in colour (which is something I prefer in my makeup).

I normally blend my cream and liquid products with a brush or sponge and did this for the most part with this product (the times I blended it with my fingers were fine too, using a brush is personal preference). Blending, blending and blending is always such a big thing when it comes to contouring and bronzing, and I was pleased to see that when doing this with Face Trace, the product did anything but disappear! I loved how it looked, and as someone with an oily complexion, I can report that I found it lasted fairly well on most days – and in pretty hot weather!

I tested the shade ‘Truffle’, and found it very warm – in some ways it felt more like a bronzer than a contour product. This works for me because ‘brontouring’ is more my thing – but, this is something to bear in mind if you want a true contouring shade and effect.

My makeup routine is quite minimal – I don’t usually contour and blusher is my favourite complexion product! I don’t usually bronze either, other than when I’m back from a sunny holiday. On special occasions however, I will contour and bronze – but I usually opt for powder products because to keep my oily T-zone at bay.

At first I wasn’t sure if Westman Atelier’s Face Trace Contour Stick would work for my deeper skin tone given that there are only three shades available. But, after trying the shade ‘Ganache’, I’m sold!

I found it super easy to use and blend out, and I just love the chic packaging. I dabbed the product onto my contour brush and did a couple of layers on the hollows of my cheeks – I used it mostly in the evenings, but when I did use it during the day I found it lasted all day, successfully beating some of my powder products.

Because my makeup is very simple on a daily basis, I’ll be adding this contour stick to my ‘nights out’ and ‘special occasions’ collection. But it’s definitely a speedy product, and great for anyone who would like to contour but wants something easy and fuss-free.

THE VERDICT ON WESTMAN ATELIER FACE TRACE CONTOUR STICK REVIEW

All three team members loved practically everything about Face Trace. As well as finding it easy to use, Vanessa and Yasmin were both impressed with the durability and colour payoff. “It is definitely pigmented,” says Yasmin. “I used too much at first and quickly realised you only need a small amount for it to really show! You can easily build it up should you require more.”

The pros: From the packaging that allows for accurate application to the colour pay-off and ease to blend, Face Trace Contour Stick has proven to be easy to use in every aspect. It’s a creamy, buildable formula infused with natural skin-benefiting ingredients that’s been made to suit all skin types – making it a fab choice for those who aim to have more conscious beauty in their collection.

The cons: The shade range for now is limited, with just three shades on offer. For traditional contouring, a cool shade is recommended, and not all of these shades will sit cooly on every skin tone.
