Why NARS Laguna Bronzer Is A Makeup Icon

NARS Laguna Bronzer Review | Space NK
When asked to write to a review for NARS Laguna Bronzer, my first thought was “How do I not make it sound like a love letter to Laguna?” only to accept that this review really does have to be a love letter. You see, I’m always on the hunt for the best bronzer that will, essentially, change my life – a shade that suits my skin tone perfectly, that blends seamlessly and makes me look radiant.

Over the years, I’ve tried so many different bronzers in powder, cream and stick formulas – and don’t get me wrong, I’ve liked a lot of them. But to be honest, this search is ultimately more about my love of makeup than about finding ‘The One’ – I don’t really need to keep searching, because I always, always go back to Laguna.

Top Line On NARS Laguna Bronzer

This iconic bronzing powder is finely milled to provide a seamless finish – you don’t have to worry about your bronzer looking streaky with this formula. There is just the slightest hint of shimmer to impart a healthy glow – it is by no means sparkly though.

If you prefer a matte finish, there’s and for those who naturally opt for cream formulas, there’s Nars Laguna Bronzing Cream, £ 36,00 which offers five different shades of Laguna. Be prepared to join a waitlist for Laguna as I’m not overexaggerating when I say it is a bestseller with a cult-like following.

Everything You Need To Know About NARS Bronzing Powder In Laguna

NARS Laguna Bronzer Review | Space NK

The first time I tried NARS Laguna Bronzer was many years ago – it wasn’t under the influence of any social media, but the age-old tradition of word of mouth. A friend of mine was infatuated by this shade, so I had to see what the fuss was all about (the rest, as they say, is beauty history).

I would describe my skin tone as ‘light olive’ and was recently told I have neutral undertones – however, I know people with very different skin tones from me that love Laguna just as much as I do. And that’s the beauty of Laguna – its light-medium bronze hue with neutral undertones has proven to be irresistible for many an array of fair, medium and olive-skinned beauties.

But what’s so magical about NARS Laguna Bronzer, you ask? Well, apart from the fact that this finely milled and now talc-free bronzing powder suits many, it’s the seamless finish and versatility that hits the spot. You can sweep it all over your face for a ‘just been on holiday’ look, sculpt your cheekbones to perfection, layer it over a cream bronzer and create a soft contouring effect with your makeup brush of choice (I’d recommend Kevyn Aucoin Blurring Powder Brush, £ 40,00 and Laura Mercier Powder Brush, £ 43,00).

It’s also just the right level of pigment – beautiful without being overpowering, resulting in the most natural effect that lasts well even on my oily complexion. Really, it’s the mother of all sun-kissed bronzers – and one of the makeup products I always hit pan on.

The Verdict On NARS Laguna Bronzer

in Laguna has deservedly become a legend in the world of beauty – and if you’re yet to try it, now might be the right time. The brand has come out with a sultry summer collection called Laguna, which features two limited-edition eyeshadow quads and a total of nine bronzers inspired by the award-winning shade. While all of them are called Laguna (02 is the original shade), the new shades cater to both fair and deeper skin tones – meaning that, finally, even more people can be a part of Laguna’s legacy.

More From NARS

This bronzer may be a staple in the makeup bag of many – but there are so many other NARS heroes worth trying. Believe me, Laguna is a match made in heaven with the brand’s infamous Nars Blush, £ 13,75 which gives almost every skin tone a natural-looking flushed finish.

NARS is a go-to brand for all base products too as it caters to all skin tones and types with glow-giving finishes and mattifying formulas. There’s the MUA-approved Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer, £ 27,00, which people keep coming back to year after year. Foundation wise, you might find it difficult to pick just one NARS favourite – Nars Sheer Glow Foundation, £ 39,00 is a classic, while Nars Light Reflecting Foundation, £ 41,00 has amazing skincare benefits.
