Chloe’s Milk Hydro Grip Gel Concealer review

As someone who rarely wears foundation, concealer is very important to me and has to meet a few key criteria: buildable coverage for good and bad skin days, easy application (pots are a hard pass), a lightweight feel, and, most importantly, something that won't highlight the mild texture from my rosacea. Skincare benefits are a bonus. So, I was incredibly excited when Milk Makeup’s new Hydro Grip Concealer scored a perfect 10.

I'd describe it as a skin tint in stick form, which makes perfect sense considering it's the sister product to the Hydro Grip Gel Tint. The formula is very creamy and practically slipped over my skin, so I knew right away it would feel light and hydrating. I applied it all over my face, blending larger areas with a brush and smaller crevices with my finger, and both methods were effortless. It evened out my skin tone beautifully, cancelling out redness and small blemishes, and left my complexion looking incredibly fresh and healthy.

However, what impressed me most was how it didn't settle into my texture or exacerbate any dryness. It certainly isn't the fullest coverage concealer out there, and I wouldn't recommend it for acne-prone skin, but it really is the perfect lightweight, everyday coverage.

Sorry to my two true loves, Kosas Revealer Concealer and Hourglass Vanish Airbrush Concealer, but Milk’s is my absolute go-to right now. With the ideal balance of coverage and a second-skin finish that makes me look far more rested than I actually am, I can't fault this concealer.

When it comes to my everyday makeup routine, I usually lean to lighter coverage. Nevertheless, I will always reach for concealer to cover pigmentation and dark circles, which is exactly what I used the new Hydro Grip Gel Concealer for. Despite adoring Milk Makeup’s lip oils (they seriously aren’t shouted about enough in my opinion), I have never dabbled in their complexion products. Since my first try of the new concealer, I have reached for it most mornings and I now want to give the setting spray a go!

It’s just incredibly quick and easy to use. I simply wind it up, warm it up on the back of the head and draw straight onto the undereye area and any patches I wish to even out. Blending takes seconds with my beauty blender, as the gel formula literally melts into my skin.

I sometimes find that makeup can sit on my skin’s surface and separate, but this concealer has such a great finish that it’s almost undetectable, yet the coverage is insane. The durability is brilliant; I have worn it to the gym many times and it doesn’t even budge.

Although my undereye area isn’t that dark, I still think undereye concealer is essential for that perfect finish to my look. I switch up my concealers often, and I am quite partial to a full coverage one, but as a die-hard Milk Makeup fan, I was very excited to give this a try.

I tested the concealer out with my Hydro Grip Gel Tint underneath and instantly fell in love. Milk don’t miss when it comes to undertones and they get their shades right every time - the complexion products are always very rich for my tone and that is exactly how I like it. As I applied with my beauty blender, it quickly melted into a skin-like finish and looked very flawless. I think this will be my new go-to as I have found that you can touch up throughout the day without ruining your look.

If you’re after something that’s easy to use and doesn’t necessarily need to be paired with the full works – Foundation, Setting Powder, Contour and Blush, then this is an ideal everyday concealer. I finished off my tint and concealer with my Cooling Water Jelly Tint and was delighted with the outcome, in under five minutes! This concealer is worthy of a spot in my makeup bag, and everyone should try it.
