Bronzers deserve a place in every makeup bag thanks to their ability to warm up any complexion and fake a ‘just-back-from-holiday’ glow within seconds. “Nothing makes me feel better than a little bit of bronzer,” says makeup artist Hannah Martin. “It’s that instant pick me up that can make you look at your sun-kissed best even if you haven’t seen its glorious rays in months.” With bronzers to suit every skin type and tone, here are four of Hannah’s fail-safe favourites, including the latest new arrival from Charlotte Tilbury

Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Bronzing Powder

Best for: A filtered finish that suits every skin tone

Promising an airbrushed and totally flawless look, it’s no surprise this bronzer racked up an impressive waiting list before it’s launch. “This NEW high performance formula was inspired by the magic of my iconic Airbrush Powder,” says Charlotte. “The matte bronzer is the secret to enhancing the look of facial architecture as the tones mimic the way skin naturally tans.”

In four shades that span all skin tones, Hannah highlights the multitasking benefits of this long-wearing, mattifying, pore blurring and oil-absorbing bronzer. “This formula really lives up to its name in creating flawless, airbrushed-looking skin that never looks dry thanks to the inclusion of hyaluronic acid,” she says.

NARS Matte Bronzing Powder

Best for: Achieving a buildable, matte finish

“If you prefer a matte finish, then take a look at the new incarnation of the classic Laguna from NARS,” says Hannah. “It has all the great soft, golden warmth of the Laguna but with a soft, matte finish for undetectable colour.” Expect a lightweight and silky texture that will really help to mattify oily or shine-prone complexions, but still impart a natural glow. Don’t be afraid to sweep across your eyes too for a flattering bronzed finish.

Drunk Elephant D-Bronzi Anti-Pollution Sunshine Drops

Best for: A natural-looking, dewy glow

For an all over glow, liquid bronzers are great. “Mix a pump of this to your moisturiser or foundation if you want to subtly add a little warmth to your skin,” suggests Hannah. “I like to add this to my foundation if my winter shade needs warming up or you’ll often find me on set painting it over foundation with a brush on the higher points of the face.” Opt for this if you prefer a radiant glow.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Bronzer

Best for: A subtle, sculpted glow

For a softer look, this marbled powder fuses both bronzing pigments and illuminating pearls to give a radiant and healthy-looking glow. “This bronzer really warms the skin and gives a lit-from-within soft-focus finish that you’ll get people asking why your skin looks so good,” says Hannah. There are four shades (Luminous, Radiant, Diffused and Nude) too meaning you won’t struggle finding one to suit your skin tone.
