The Skincare Shakeup

As 2019 draws to a close and we welcome in a new decade, this week is the perfect opportunity to take some time out to reflect. While many of us will be considering our goals and resolutions for the next twelve months, we’ll also be reserving a little time to assess our skincare routine. Whether you’ve spotted some new fine lines, feel your skin doesn’t look as glowy as you’d like or if you have been suffering with breakouts lately, here we share some of the most common signs that you need to switch up your routine and our simple tips and tricks on how to do it…

How To Revive A Dull Complexion

One too many late nights, tiredness and the weather can all make our skin look a little duller and more lacklustre than usual. If that sounds like you and you’re craving a brighter, more revived looking complexion, update your regime with one or both of the most powerful skin-brightening ingredients vitamin C or niacinamide. Three of our favourites include Kora Organics’ Noni Bright Vitamin C Serum, a lightweight serum that combines vitamin C with a superfruit complex of cherry, orange and lemon peel.

For a quick refresh that you can effortlessly add to your existing regime, Rodial’s Vitamin C Glow Tonic is made from a 5% acid complex that helps whisk away the top layer of dead skin cells and smooth for a clearer, more unified complexion. In Eve Lom’s bestselling Brightening Face Masks, a 100% cotton mask is soaked with hyaluronic acid and niacinamide for a more unified, glowing complexion.

How To Treat Blocked Pores

If it seems like your pores are blocked and look more obvious than normal, this may be due to dirt, grime and dead skin cells becoming clogged in them. Over time, this build-up can lead to your pores widening, stretching and becoming more visible. Thankfully with a good cleansing regime and the addition of an acid you can help to dislodge any debris and buff away dirt from the surface of your skin. At the moment, we’re loving Dr Dennis Gross’ NEW targeted treatment, the Alpha Beta Pore Perfecting & Refining Serum, which is a daily serum which combines adipic acid and prickly pear extract to help flush out impurities for smoother skin texture. For those who prefer a weekly intensive mask, try Ren’s Invisible Pores Detox Mask which contains French clay to draw out sebum and soothe the skin.

How To Tackle Early Signs Of Ageing

Early signs of ageing can seemingly appear overnight. If you’ve recently noticed fine lines or crow’s feet when you look in the mirror, don’t panic. There are a whole array of products you can incorporate into your routine to help improve tone, texture and diminish the appearance of fine lines. One of the most potent youth-boosting ingredients to tackle signs of ageing is retinol. Most commonly found in serum form and applied at night with regular use retinol infused products will help to smooth fine lines and refine skin texture.

Two of our favourite retinol based products to add to your evening routine are Votary’s Intense Night Oil Rosehip and Retinoid and Natura Bisse’s Essential Shock Intense Retinol Fluid. If you haven’t tried retinol before you may prefer to try Herbivore’s plant-based alternative the Bakuchiol Smoothing Serum, which is more gentle on sensitive skin types.
