Hourglass' Much-Loved Palettes Are Back - Here's What We Think

Shade: You know gifting season is well and truly on its way when Hourglass launches its yearly Ambient Lighting Edit Unlocked Palettes. I was really impressed with this year's colourways. I chose the Wish palette which combines soft rose and apricot tones with champagne shimmers and bronze.

Application: I used the three blush shades to create a 'blush layering' look, sweeping the lighter Desert Rose across the cheeks, adding vibrant Pink Aura to the centre, then taking deeper Mauve Flush along the tops of the cheekbones and into the temples. The rest of the palette has stunning luminous powders that blend so smoothly and seamlessly into the skin to create the lit-from-within look that Hourglass does so well.

Finish: I created such a gorgeous, lifted effect that holds onto soft summer warmth while leaning into the cold, frostbitten blush look I love for winter. This year might be my favourite yet, I particularly love the 3D jewellery-inspired design. It feels like such a treat to open and looks just as beautiful sitting on my dressing table. It feels so special to use and makes my makeup look more polished with very little effort, and I'll definitely reach for it year-round.

Shade: The Luck palette I tried had deep pinks and rich mauves as well as warm-toned brown contour shades. I really enjoyed the design of the palette, especially the gem detailing and the marbled effect within each shade. The powders are visibly raised so you get a lot of value for money compared to other palettes.

Application: I used my palette for a blush and highlighter look. The matching Luck brush was tapered perfectly for a precise application and the powders felt so lightweight while having a good amount of pigment, which are both signs of good quality. The palette is easy to use and buildable, I went heavier with the blush and applied a little highlighter. All shades were really flattering, blend seamlessly and you can apply a lot of product as it's so finely milled. A little went a long way with the highlight and the warm golden tone complemented my complexion and undertones.

Finish: This is my first hourglass palette and I am in love. I would use the finish powder and highlight to brighten up my looks for work but also mix the blush colours for dinner with friends. I love each colour individually, but you can also get creative and create so many different looks. I can see why everyone raves about these palettes!

Shade: I used the Hope palette, which has medium pink, fuchsia and orange tones. It features a medium bronzer and lots of warm pinky shades of blush that complement a medium skin tone really nicely. It also has a highlight that is slightly bronze which also works really well for my skin tone! No chalkiness around here!

Application: I applied the palette on my cheeks, temples and nose. The formula is super easy to blend and the different shades in the palette work really nicely together! I used around 3 dabs for each side of my face. The blush feels insanely soft and I'd highly recommend adding one to your basket if you're giving someone the palette as nobody ever seems to treat themselves to nice brushes!

Finish: This product blends seamlessly and looked really natural on my skin, meaning you can really experiment with different blush placements without worrying about going overboard. I really love the ease of this palette. I'm always going away and having everything in one compact will make my life so much easier, particularly as there's also a handy mirror. The different tones are great for both day and night!
