With the latest Rare Beauty product, Selena Gomez has turned her attention to lip gloss. Enter Rare Beauty Positive Light Luminizing Lip Gloss. Available exclusively at Space NK, the new Rare Beauty lip gloss comes in six shades and gives a nostalgic nod back to the Nineties with a shimmery finish.
We asked some of the Space NK team to choose their favourite shade and review the lip gloss. Does the shimmer look glittery or shiny? Is the texture sticky? Does it keep your lips hydrated? Here are their thoughts on Selena Gomez’s Positive Light Luminizing Lip Gloss…
Kirsten’s Rare Beauty Positive Light Luminizing Lip Gloss review
I reviewed: Rare Beauty Positive Light Luminizing Lip Glos, £19.00 in Beam

My first impressions of Rare Beauty’s lip gloss were that it was much more shimmery than I expected, which I really liked, and that it didn’t feel too sticky. Usually, I find shimmery lip glosses can feel sticky and gritty, but I loved how smooth Rare Beauty’s was.
Beam is a sheer, pinky nude and I paired it with a dark nude lip liner. If I was looking for a stronger look, I think I would wear a lipstick underneath, however for day-to-day wear, I prefer a natural glossy lip.
I was surprised by how long Rare Beauty’s lip gloss lasted. Eventually the gloss disappeared, but the shimmer was still visible. Overall, I was really happy with the lip gloss and will definitely keep using it.
Stephanie’s Rare Beauty Positive Light Luminizing Lip Gloss review
I reviewed: Rare Beauty Positive Light Luminizing Lip Glos, £19.00 in Glimmer

As I usually go for a lip balm or oil over lipstick, gloss or liner, this was new territory for me. When I applied Rare Beauty’s Positive Light Liquid Luminizer I felt a tiny bit of tingling, which was hopefully the plumping effect. The colour payoff was nice, and Glimmer is a pinky mauve that’s kinds of like my natural lip colour but better.
The finish lasted quite well and even after most of the gloss had faded there was still a bit of sparkle. I would add that I liked the applicator as it was a good size and made it easy to swipe on without a mirror.
Ruby’s Rare Beauty Positive Light Luminizing Lip Gloss review
I reviewed: Rare Beauty Positive Light Luminizing Lip Glos, £19.00 in Blaze

I’d take a lip gloss over a lipstick any day, but my default is usually a lip oil or mask for a low key look and then I’ll add a liner and gloss when I’m going out. I really liked the colour payoff of Rare Beauty’s gloss. I reviewed Blaze and it looked like a deep brown shade in the tube, but the finish was more of a muted natural hue, which I loved.
It lasted well and most importantly, faded relatively evenly so I wasn’t left with patchy looking lips.
The packaging and the wand was pretty stock standard. I usually like a larger, fluffier applicator for lip gloss, but this one did the job.
Our Verdict On Rare Beauty's Positive Light Luminizing Lip Gloss
All three reviewers said they would use Rare Beauty’s lip gloss again, which is always a good sign in our book. Everyone was impressed with how long the lip gloss lasted, particularly the shimmer and no one complained of a sticky texture. The range of nude shades is wide enough to suit different skin tones.
If you’re looking for a long-lasting lip formula that doesn’t require topping up, this probably isn’t for you but that will be the same for all lip glosses and you should opt for a lipstick or stain.

This isn’t Selena Gomez’s first lip product. Rare Beauty’s Soft Pinch Tinted Lip Oil is a must-try for anyone looking for long-lasting colour that won’t dry out their lips. The gel-to-oil formula comes in eight shades, which match the Soft Pinch Liquid Blush, and can be layered up for a more intense finish.
If you’re looking for instant intensity, the Rare Beauty Lip Souffle Matte Lip Cream will hit the spot, while lipstick purists should look to the Kind Words Lipstick which comes in punchier nude and natural tones.
