HANITRA'S RARE BEAUTY PRESSED POWDER REVIEW
• Skin tone: Medium tan
• Shade reviewed: Rare Beauty True To Myself Tinted Pressed Finishing Powder, £31.00 in Sand, a warm-neutral shade
When I first tried this pressed powder, it reminded me a lot of the NARS Soft Matte Powder, which is my favourite one that I use everyday. I think the shade works perfectly with my skin tone, as much as I treasure loose powders for baking, I love that this helped enhance the look of my foundation and provided coverage.
As for packaging, the case is very slender and seamlessly slips into your bag. After the first application, I only needed to re-apply it once towards the end of the work day, when I noticed my forehead and cheeks had become a little shiner. On the skin, this powder truly has a light-as-air feel as described and resisted enhancing any of my imperfections (can happen with pressed powder) – I would absolutely recommend this … to anyone with oily skin, it will definitely be added to my future powder rotation!
VANESSA'S RARE BEAUTY PRESSED POWDER REVIEW
• Skin tone: Olive
• Shade reviewed: Rare Beauty True To Myself Tinted Pressed Finishing Powder, £31.00 in Light Beige
Despite having an oily complexion, I wouldn’t say a finishing or setting powder is vital in my makeup routine. I usually always apply it before leaving the house, but rarely ‘top up’ throughout the day – my skin can get dehydrated and I rely on my beloved Tatcha Blotting Papers to get rid of excess shine.
This is why I was drawn to Rare Beauty’s latest launch – I immediately loved the compact design and accompanying mirror. I applied it with my go-to brush before my setting spray and I’m pleased to report that it didn’t move around any of my makeup – it very much does feel invisible.I think this powder is the perfect holiday essential, the neat product design is so travel-friendly and promises to manage shine under the sizzling summer sun.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this powder to oily and combination skin types who need a little help mattifying their complexions throughout the day, however, I would warn this powder may highlight texture if applied multiple times during the day.
STEPHANIE'S RARE BEAUTY PRESSED POWDER REVIEW
• Skin tone: Pale with pink undertones
• Shade reviewed: Rare Beauty True To Myself Tinted Pressed Finishing Powder, £31.00 in Ivory
I think it’s great this powder is designed with practicality in mind, the built-in mirror is perfect for regular touch-ups and the slim compact is ideal for casually throwing into your handbag before braving the early morning commute.
In the past, I’ve had an issue with powders appearing cakey on my skin, but this one from Rare Beauty blended seamlessly across my complexion and provided subtle, long-lasting coverage against the unpredictable London weather. It has a silky-soft feel to the touch, and I would say this texture certainly transfers to the skin – it’s smooth, weightless and breathable, one to recommend to friends for sure!
HARRIET'S RARE BEAUTY PRESSED POWDER REVIEW
• Skin tone: Pale
• Shade reviewed: Rare Beauty True To Myself Tinted Pressed Finishing Powder, £31.00 in Porcelain
I’m very rarely inclined to purchase pressed powders as I find they often cling to any imperfections and appear very heavy on my skin. However, this launch from Rare Beauty was a welcome exception. It’s ultra-fine texture blended like butter across my complexion and noticeably blurred any pigmentation with a slightly tinted finish.
My skin inevitably produces excess oil as the day progresses and I judged this powder to perform particularly well at combating shine and mattifying my skin for lengthy periods. I did have to re-apply a few times, but overall, I was impressed by this powder’s ability to appear so lightweight and velvety on my complexion, especially with a combination skin type.
LILY'S RARE BEAUTY PRESSED POWDER REVIEW
• Skin tone: Tan, with an olive undertone
• Shade reviewed: Rare Beauty True To Myself Tinted Pressed Finishing Powder, £31.00 in True Caramel
Rare Beauty has placed inclusivity as the heart of its practice since its creation and I was impressed to see the shade range for this pressed powder was just as diverse and wide-ranging as expected, I had no issues finding the correct shade to suit my skin’s undertones.
I put this powder to the ultimate test: the heat of a holiday abroad. Magically, it kept my shine at bay and prevailed against the tropical temperatures to deliver long-lasting, lightweight coverage, requiring very few touch-ups.
Although this powder has a silky-soft, airy feel, its blurring powers were immediately noticeable on my complexion – I’m sure it will be one of Rare Beauty’s future best-sellers.
THE VERDICT ON RARE BEAUTY'S TRUE TO MYSELF TINTED PRESSED FINISHING POWDER
