We Asked Three People To Road Test Diptyque's New Fleur de Peau Scent

Whether it’s Mediterranean summers or Greek mythology, Diptyque perfumes known for taking evocative stories and giving them a contemporary twist. The new Fleur de Peau fragrance does exactly that; inspired by an ancient Greek love story, it blends softness with depth and looks to be a strong contender for the perfect summer scent.
What Diptyque Says Fleur De Peau Smells Like
To start, thought we’d break down the key notes in Diptyque’s new Fleur de Peau. One thing the brand makes clear is that soft, cottony musks are at the heart of this perfume. These are topped with gentle magnolia and vibrant pink peppercorn, plus sweet iris and subtle ambrette (whose seeds are derived from hibiscus flowers).
The fragrance promises to be as light and floral as it is warm and inviting. Which seems fitting, given that the scent is inspired by the legend of the Greek god Eros and Psyche – a tale of love, purity and beauty.
What The Space NK Team Says Fleur De Peau Smells Like
Reading the notes is a good start when you’re looking to discover a new fragrance, but it’s only through smell that you can really do it justice and decide if it’s for you. For a helping hand, we asked three members of the Space NK team to give it a spritz and share their own description and interpretation of Fleur de Peau. None of them had tried it before or knew what the notes were, so these were their true first impressions.

Simone, SEO Manager:
“My go-to scents are typically airy and sweet, then I often layer them with deeper notes like sandalwood and cedarwood for a bit more personality. Fleur de Peau is light, subtle and fresh, so it feels perfect for summer. I’d say it’s very floral with a hint of powder (which aligns with what I would typically go for) and I’d recommend it to anyone who wants something rememberable but not overpowering.”

Danielle, Senior Digital Marketing Manager:
“I’m no stranger to Diptyque – my daily fragrance rotation consists of their Diptyque Eau des Sens, £135.00, plus Pleasing Rivulets Eau de Parfum, £75.00 and DedCool’s Xtra Milk (all of which are quite subtle scents). I’ll admit I didn’t initially love Fleur de Peau on the first spritz. Straight from the bottle, it smelled quite bitter and alcoholic but after letting the scent settle on my skin, it was a very different outcome. For me, it’s delicate and wearable, and I’d happily wear it day after day.
“It smells floral without being too soap-like, thanks to some warming, almost peppery undertones, so it’s definitely a fragrance you’d get compliments on.”

George, Senior Digital Designer:
“I’m naturally drawn to traditional masculine scents – both fresh, vibrant options like Creed Aventus Eau De Parfum, £310.00 and richer, spicier fragrances like Tom Ford Tom Ford Noir Extreme, £108.00. First impressions on Fleur de Peau: its base is distinctly musky, which I really appreciate in a daytime fragrance. The floral notes are beautifully balanced (not overly feminine), adding a light, delicate touch without feeling dated or old-fashioned. I’d say it smells like a blend of floral, powdery and spicy notes so it strikes a balance between modernity and tradition.
“While I appreciate it, it’s not quite for me – the iris and cotton notes lean a bit too feminine for my taste. That said, my girlfriend loves soft, floral fragrances like this, and I can easily see it becoming one of her new favourites.”
Our Verdict On Diptyque Fleur De Peau
If you like classically floral, feminine scents, Fleur de Peau is for you. Even if that’s not what you generally opt for, the musky undertones and freshness here could suit anyone looking for an easy-to-wear, uplifting perfume this summer.
The Space NK team agreed that the blend can be layered, without being overpowering, but it’s really one to try before you buy (pop into your local Space NK store), if you’re considering adding Fleur de Peau to your rotation. Luckily, it’s also available as part of a discovery set, which is ideal for easing yourself into the scent and road testing it for a few weeks.
