Why This Is Rose Gallagher's Desert Island Beauty Buy
As a sufferer of rosacea, I’m always on the hunt for products that will help conceal redness without irritating my skin. When a friend told me about a miracle-working CC Cream that offers the coverage of a foundation and the hydration of a serum with SPF 50+, I was sceptical to say the least. However, after using IT Cosmetics CC+ Cream Original SPF50+, £32.50 once, I was blown away by the results and immediately hooked. As anyone who suffers with rosacea or sensitivity too knows, you have to be careful what you put on your skin. I have two types of rosacea - flushing redness and textured rosacea. While I always have flushing, the textured redness comes and goes.
This CC cream is now a staple in my routine. It gives me so much comfort and confidence knowing that even if I’m having a really bad skin day, I have something that will cover it. While this is the main reason why I absolutely cannot be without IT Cosmetics CC Cream, there are several other reasons why I love it and why I think you might too…
It’s Enough On Its Own
As a rule, CC creams tend to be quite sheer, but IT Cosmetics’ formula is different. Prior to finding this, I used an endless number of products to try to achieve the look and finish I wanted. I’d apply a primer under a long-wear, full coverage foundation to cover my redness, before layering several glow-getting formulas on top to try and get a natural-looking dewiness.
With this CC cream however, there’s no need for anything else. It disguises redness, gives impressive radiance and lasts all day. I rarely even use concealer now as the formula blurs imperfections and camouflages dark circles. With this one product my skin looks instantly better.
In terms of application, I always use a brush and tend to apply a sheer layer all over and then press a little into any areas that need more coverage. Because the texture is so sheer, you can build as much as you like without it looking or feeling heavy. There’s no need to use too much and I’d always recommend starting with a small amount of product and building it up.
It Offers Skin Benefits Too
One of the things I love most about IT Cosmetics as a brand is that all its products are based around skincare, so every makeup formula is packed with efficacious ingredients. The CC Cream is packed with collagen, peptides and niacinamide to strengthen and support your skin. It also contains the all-important SPF 50, which is without a doubt the most important skincare step there is.
In the morning, all I do is prep my skin with a good moisturiser as, from a makeup artists’ perspective, a hydrated base is imperative - even more so for me as rosacea often goes hand-in-hand with dryness. If your skin is dry or dehydrated, it will affect the staying power and finish of any base product, so don’t be tempted to skip this step.
There Are Two More Finishes
While the original CC Cream is my go-to for a natural finish, there are two more variations that work wonders for different skin types. IT Cosmetics CC+ Cream Matte SPF40, £32.50 is ideal if you have oily skin and prefer a matte finish and for those who are on the drier side and looking for a radiance boost, there’s IT Cosmetics CC+ Cream Illumination SPF50+, £32.50. All three creams feel lightweight and comfortable to wear, but the textures do differ slightly. The Original and Illumination formulas both have a gel-like consistency, whereas the Oil-Free Matte has more of a mousse-like texture. If you have combination skin, you could use the Oil-Free Matte to take the shine down on your T-zone and the Original on the rest of your face. You really can’t go wrong with any of them though and once you’ve tried it, you’ll never look back.
