I wear mascara almost every day – my eyes are my favourite feature, and I like to accentuate them! Having tried many over the years, I’ve found the best results come from using two mascaras together: one for volume, then one for separating out my lashes.

When I first saw the Kosas mascara wand, I was intrigued as it uses a mix of bushier, volumising bristles and lovely thin bristles, so I wondered if it could do both at the same time. Spoiler: it can.

I liked that the brush was small enough to apply with precision and didn’t make too much mess. The brush also made it easier to apply the mascara onto my lower lashes (which is ideal – I don’t like a lot of product on my lower lashline as it can to look too heavy).

I was pleasantly surprised with Soulgazer on the whole. I loved the more natural mascara look and was impressed by the definition, separation and length it provided. I’m lucky I already have quite long lashes, but I still noticed the lengthening benefits of the peptides in the formula. I was also so impressed by how easy it was to wipe away any excess, and remove it at the end of the day, without irritating the skin around my eyes.

The mascara held the curl of my lashes really well too and it lasted all day with only the faintest bit of smudging around my lower lashes. I have oily skin though, so every mascara I’ve tried has stuck to my skin as the day went on.

I’ll definitely keep using this mascara as it gives the perfect everyday look and it takes no time at all to apply. But for a ‘lashier’ look, I’ll apply this in conjunction with a bushier, more volumising mascara.

Ruby’s Kosas Soulgazer Mascara Review

Unlike Yasmin, I don’t wear mascara on a daily basis – I only really reach for it when I’m going out in the evening. And when I do wear it, I prefer a lifted but natural look that makes me a look a little more awake, without feeling overpowering or too ‘in your face’.

For that reason, this mascara really wowed me. It was very user-friendly (which is great for an occasional mascara wearer!) and I loved the way it felt. It was lightweight, left no clumps, and the applicator brush was especially impressive. It wasn’t too bulky or too small, so I was able to individually highlight every lash, giving each a visibly longer, more defined appearance with just one or two coats of product.

I can also confirm that the smudge-proof claim rang true for me – I wore Soulgazer for just over five hours and it lasted right until the end of the night. The fall out was minimal and gradual but not smudgy, unlike most mascaras I’ve tried.

Overall, I’ll happily continue to use this mascara (maybe even during the day, as it’s so quick and simple to apply). I’m intrigued by its claims to promote lash growth, so I’m looking forward to wearing it regularly and seeing the results over time. Once I’ve finished this tube, I’ll be re-purchasing!
