Tips to Get Glowing Skin

We very much doubt that there will be a guest at the upcoming royal wedding with a hair out of place, let alone uneven, dull or tired looking skin. The radiant Meghan Markle is bound to be sporting a glowing complexion, and we want in on the act for wedding season and beyond. So whether you’re the bride or a guest, follow our tips and enjoy your most radiant complexion yet.

 1. Start with skincare

The smoother skin is, the more light it will reflect, making you look more radiant. Slough away dead skin cells, dry patches and any bumps with skin polishing exfoliator, such as Oskia Micro Exfoliating Balm. Alternatively try acid exfoliation; similar to an in-salon facial peel, but gentler  – at home acids work to smooth away dead skin cells and resurface skin, we recommend Omorovicza Acid Fix.

2. Don’t skimp on moisture

Dehydrated skin can look dull and grey-toned, plus thirsty skin will drink up makeup making it look patchy; in contrast hydrated skin is plump and glows with health. To keep skin smooth, nourished and better at reflecting light we recommend patting on a serum that includes hyaluronic acid as this will help to push moisture deep into the skin; we like Eve Lom Intense Hydration Serum. Follow with moisturiser for lasting nourishment.

The vitamin-enriched Aesop Perfect Facial Hydrating Cream is ideal for dry skin. Oily skin can become dehydrated too, look out for a feeling of tightness and an ashy tone, and keep it well moisturised with a lightweight gel formula like Dr Dennis Gross Hyaluronic Marine Oil-Free Moisture Cushion.

3. Prime, prime, prime

Priming products are a perfect addition to a wedding beauty kit, as not only do they grab hold of foundation ensuring it lasts well into the small hours, they also give skin a flattering finish – blurring imperfections and making skin look great in pictures. If you choose a radiant primer you can also significantly brighten up your complexion, try Nars Radiance Primer SPF 35 which gives skin a subtle glow or Hourglass Ambient Light Correcting Primer which comes in three luminous shades.

4. Dewy makeup musts

An even-toned complexion helps skin to look bright and fresh so conceal any redness around the nose, under the eyes and eyelids with a radiance-boosting liquid concealer like By Terry Touche Veloutée. To give skin a healthy, glowing finish look for a foundation that contains light-diffusing particles – we like Laura Mercier Candleglow Soft Luminous Foundation – it gives skin a soft-focus, illuminated finish.

For a beautiful base that will last you through the wedding ceremony and long into the evening, try Nars Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation – you won’t need to touch it up. For subtle radiance and a comfortable liquid-to-powder finish we like By Terry Sheer Expert. Apply your foundation with fingertips and avoid heavy layers, for a healthy glow your natural skin will need to be visible.

5. Glow on-the-go

A very handy tool for your clutch, the multi-tasking By Terry Light-Expert Click Brush can be used as a radiant concealer or foundation and includes a brush for quick and easy touch-ups. A light-reflecting powder will prolong the wear of your base, blur imperfections and give skin an all-over radiant glow, our pick? Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder.

For a very quick and easy cheat to brighter skin simply take a creamy highlighter like RMS Living Luminizer or Nars The Multiple and smooth onto the tops of cheekbones, inner corners of the eyes and the cupid’s bow. Add to your on-your-go kit and get the lit-from-within look all night long.
