We Tested Rare Beauty's Body and Hair Fragrance Mist

Selena Gomez has conquered the world of makeup with Rare Beauty’s hugely successful offering and has more recently entered the realms of bodycare and fragrance with her Find Comfort bodycare range. Featuring a Body and Hair Fragrance Mist, Hydrating Body Lotion, Hydrating Hand Cream and, Stop and Soothe Aromatherapy Pen, the four-piece collection promises to help nourish your skin as well as your mind with expertly blended formulas and a calming, comforting scent.

The Rare Beauty Find Comfort Body and Hair Fragrance Mist piqued our interest in particular. It’s not the first time Selena Gomez has dabbled in fragrance, over a decade ago Selena Gomez Eau de Parfum by Selena Gomez was unveiled. The sweet, fruity scent included peach, pineapple and musk notes blended with the base of dark chocolate and vanilla. Rare Beauty’s Find Comfort scent couldn’t be more different.

Working with French perfumer Jérôme Epinette, who has created scents for Byredo and Sol de Janeiro, Selena Gomez wanted the Find Comfort fragrance to ‘smell like a hug’. Did she succeed? What fragrance does Selena Gomez wear?

Having worked with Jérôme Epinette on creating her perfect scent, we think it’s fairly safe to say that the fragrance Selena Gomez is likely to wear is Rare Beauty Find Comfort Body and Hair Fragrance Mist. “I’ve always been drawn to fragrance because it helps me disconnect from everyday stresses, and this mist does just that,” says Selena Gomez. “It’s bright and fresh yet warm and cosy at the same time – I’m obsessed!”

What is the hype around Rare Beauty Body and Hair Fragrance Mist?

Perfume mists have risen in popularity recently, most notably the Sol de Janeiro perfume mists. Some experts have nodded to the cost-of-living crisis in response, but it also should be noted that the newer mists have impressive staying power. Selena Gomez’s fragrance mist goes one step further than your usual formulas. The lightweight, super-fine mist can be used on your hair and body, and is packed full of nourishing ingredients, including biotin to strengthen your hair, skin and nails, and niacinamide to strengthen your skin barrier.

What does Rare Beauty Find Comfort Hair and Body Fragrance Mist smell like?

As soon as the sample of Rare Beauty’s perfume mist arrived at Space NK HQ, we decided to ask the team what they thought of Selena Gomez’s fragrance. Full disclosure: they didn’t know they were smelling the Rare Beauty mist when asked to describe what they could smell, and it was early November.

Lauren, social media coordinator: “Ouu I really like this scent. I’m getting floral, vanilla and citrus notes – there’s definitely a little bit of orange in there. I would definitely use this as it smells fresh but isn’t overly summery so I could wear in the winter too.”

Rebz, product designer: “I’d wear it. It’s giving me post-gym freshness and feels very every day. There’s a hint of floral, but it’s not overpowering and still feels fresh. I could see myself throwing it in my gym bag.”

Victoria, marketing and events assistant: “I like the scent, but the fresh citrusy notes make me think of summer. I think I’d be more likely to consider switching to this in the spring.”

Lizzie, product manager: “Oh my god, this really reminds me of Byredo’s Bal d'Afrique. I couldn’t tell you what the notes are, but that’s what I’m getting. My only concern with hair and body mists versus traditional fragrances would be the longevity, so I’d want to test that before I bought it. I like it though!”

Our verdict: does Rare Beauty Hair and Body Fragrance Mist last?

The overarching feeling was that Rare Beauty Find Comfort Body and Hair Fragrance Mist, £28.00 is incredibly wearable and everyone liked it. There was one question that remained though, does it have longevity? Lauren misted the fragrance into her hair at around 11am and messaged to confirm that she could indeed still smell the scent at 7pm. For a perfume mist, and a lot of fragrances for that matter, we’d say eight hours is pretty good going.

So, should you invest in Selena Gomez’s perfume mist? We’re going to say yes, £28 for 100ml is great value for money and this scent lasts. We always recommend popping into your local Space NK store to spritz and sniff if you’re unsure about the types of fragrance notes you like.
