5 New Season Beauty Trends To Have On Your Radar

Pastel Power
From eyeshadow and liner to hair colour, pastel hues have been seen across the catwalks. Prabal Gurung gave us both with some models sporting lavender and mint green hair, while others had graphic pastel eyeshadow. The pastel ombre effect across the foreheads at Marni might not be a makeup look many will replicate, the soft tones should definitely be a source of inspiration for eye makeup.
Tap Into The Trend: The easiest way to tap into the pastel beauty trend for spring/summer 2023 is with your nails. Whether you want to channel a pop a lavender, rose or a powdery blue, you’ll find a nail polish to fit the bill. If you’re tempted to experiment with a pop of pastel across your eyes, we would point you in the direction of Chantecaille.
Slicked Back Hair
It might be easier to list the shows that haven’t aligned with the slicked back hair trend, rather than the ones that have. In New York, there was a nod to the slicked back buns that have proved popular on TikTok in recent months. While Carolina Herrera took a classic approach with a centre parting and a striking red lip, Jason Wu and Proenza Schouler took a slightly more relaxed approach. The slicked back look didn’t abate in London. Molly Goddard and Huishan Zhang pulled the hair back off the face and took the wet-effect down to the mid-lengths. At Nensi Dojaka, it was a similar but more dishevelled finish.
Tap Into The Trend: If you don’t like using a lot of product in your hair, this is not the spring/summer 2023 beauty trend for you. For those who are on board and intrigued, look to IGK, Bumble and Bumble and Bread Beauty Supply. Our top tip? Take your cue from the glass hair trend and opt for styling products that are packed full of hydrating ingredients.

Vampy Lips
Dark lipstick might usually be a beauty trend associated with autumn/winter, but for spring 2023 you might be tempted to swap out the traditional peaches and pinks for something a bit more vampy. From dark lips at Luan and The Row to the berry bitten lip finish at Molly Goddard, darker hues were spotted across New York and London.
Tap Into The Trend: The key to channelling this look is to find the tone that works for your skin tone, as well as the finish. If you're not used to wearing bold lip colours, a matte finish can be quite daunting, while a soft shine or satin lipstick are more forgiving.
Embellished Eyes
There was more than a splash of glitter at the shows in New York. While it’s not a look many of us would be brave enough to recreate, at Peter Do eyebrow pencils were replaced with flecks of glitter. At Tory Burch, graphic eyes were coated with chunky embellished, while in London, smoky eyes were given a playful twist with blue, purple and gold glitter at Mark Fast. The makeup artist Lynsey Alexander used sequins from the collection to upgrade the eye makeup at Halpern.
Tap Into The Trend: Heavily embellished eyes is a statement look. Why not ease yourself in with a splash of glitter? Hourglass has a range of eyeshadows that showcase the eye brightening power of finely milled and chunky glitter pigments, in a range of hues that flatter all skin tones and eye colours.
Supermodel Skin
Usually, we’re encouraged to choose a makeup accent, a punchy red lip or a strong eye, but for spring/summer 2023, great skin is a look in itself. Brandon Maxwell, JW Anderson and Erdem all provided supermodel worthy skin. Think clean, healthy-looking skin with a velvety finish that catches the light in all the right places effortlessly. Brushed up brows, a swipe of lip balm and minimal blusher created the perfect backdrop for gorgeous looking skin.
Tap Into The Trend: A solid skincare routine is key for this beauty trend, but your choice of base can also help. Fortunately, a flurry of bases with benefits have launched over the past year and provide coverage and hydration. Browse the foundations and tinted moisturisers on offer from the likes of Charlotte TIlbury, NARS, Rare Beauty and Hourglass.
