Why Tatcha Water Cream Is The Best Moisturiser For Spring

Tatcha The Water Cream review | Space NK

Born in San Francisco but deeply rooted in Japanese culture and botanicals, Tatcha’s irresistible skincare formulas – that really do feel like skin rituals – have gained a devoted following across the globe. Furthermore, those who have tried a Tatcha moisturiser know that, once you go Tatcha, it’s hard to go back.

Tatcha currently has three face creams in its repertoire: The Dewy Skin Cream, The Silk Cream and The Water Cream – each one dreamy in its own right. Now, you’re probably aware that The Dewy Skin Cream tends to steal the show (it’s Tatcha’s number one bestseller) – which isn’t surprising, given that it truly is a purple potion of glow-giving goodness. However, we thought it was about time we take a moment for The Water Cream – an award-winning moisturiser designed to balance skin, diminish the look of pores, help minimise excess oil production and promote skin’s turnover.

Recommended for combination and oilier skin types by Tatcha, this face cream has been formulated with Japanese wild rose, Japanese leopard lily and, of course, the beauty brand’s Hadasei-3 complex – a trinity of fermented Japanese superfoods. With this in mind, we asked two Space NK team members – who lean towards oiliness – to test out The Water Cream for a few weeks and give their honest opinions. VANESSA’S TATCHA WATER CREAM REVIEW

• Skin type: Oily-combination

• Skin tone: Light olive

• The product: Tatcha The Water Cream, £24.00

Controversial, but despite being an oily-skinned gal, I actually adore Tatcha The Dewy Skin Cream, £24.00. I’ve used it on and off for many years, and especially love reaching out for it on days when my skin is looking dry and dull and I feel like I need an extra glow. Come the warmer months however, I know I must set aside my love for richer textures. Plus, it was about time I gave Tatcha The Water Cream, £24.00 a go, which is made to target some of my biggest skin concerns (large pores and excess oil).

I know comparisons are odious, but my main concern when trying The Water Cream was how much would I miss The Dewy Skin Cream? Would The Water Cream still give me a gorgeous glow while balancing out my troublesome skin? Or would I end up looking a little too mattified for my likings?

Vanessa before and after using Tatcha The Water Cream

Well, I’m happy to report that no comparisons were made nor disappointments met, as I’ve loved using The Water Cream in my morning routine the past few weeks. The texture is lovely, very light yet luscious on the skin. It sat well under different SPF formulas and makeup, and gave my skin a subtle glow – most importantly, my complexion didn’t feel dried out throughout the day. It’s still early to say whether it’s helped with the appearance of my pores but I’ll continue to use it – and I can confirm that both The Dewy Skin Cream and The Water Cream will sit harmoniously within my skincare rituals. The Dewy Skin Cream will come into its own during the chillier months, and Water Cream may just become my favourite spring and summer moisturiser.

I may have oily skin, but I’m always on the lookout for a hydrating moisturiser that will quench my thirsty skin and hydrate from within to balance out my complexion. Hence why I was keen to try The Water Cream – it’s regarded as a burst of hydration that also has a pore-clarifying and balancing effect.

Vivienne before and after using Tatcha The Water Cream

I included The Water Cream in my AM routine and in the evening after double cleansing – and found myself loving it straight away! I didn’t find it too heavy, and it got rid of the tight feeling I sometimes experience on my skin sometimes after cleansing. My skin felt plumped and hydrated, exactly what I needed. As for how it worked with other products? I usually wear a tinted moisturiser during the day and it sat really nicely underneath it. It’s been almost a month so far since I started using The Water Cream and I love it, I’ll for sure keep it in my routine!

OUR VERDICT ON TATCHA THE WATER CREAM

Both Vanessa and Vivienne loved using Tatcha The Water Cream, £24.00 and are going to keep it in their skincare stash. “If you have oily skin and long for hydration without heaviness, I’m sure you’re going to love this,” says Vanessa. “Combination skin types will probably respond well to it too.” However, if you lean towards dryness and dehydration, your skin may respond better to the richness of Tatcha The Silk Cream, £123.00 or Tatcha The Dewy Skin Cream, £24.00.
